A good well run company which in my view has been clearly oversold and should over coming year continue to see the share price rise with a decent divi into the bargain.

Very disappointing finish despite the XD today. Let's hope we stabilise here and move forward. Obviously need a little good news after the recent downgrade. Still confident defence spending will recover so still positive on CHG med term.

"Departing Rockwell Collins CEO Expects Military Spending to Stabilize"

July 19, 2013, 4:43 p.m. ET

Clay Jones Expects Improvement in M&A Activity

U.S. military spending is likely to stabilize over the next year, giving fresh clarity on the industry's future that could help thaw mergers and acquisitions activity, Rockwell Collins Inc. COL +2.77% Chief Executive Clay Jones said in an interview.

Rockwell, like other companies in the sector, has struggled with the declines in U.S. military spending. The company, which makes everything from data networks for battlefield vehicles to jetliner flight simulators, said Friday that sales of defense systems in the latest quarter dropped 11% from year earlier, while its commercial business grew 7%.

Budgetary disputes in Washington have fueled uncertainty over how deep the cuts will go. "Undeniably the defense [mergers and acquisition] market has just been frozen here for the last two years, because no one knows the future" due to U.S. government budget sequestration, Mr. Jones said Friday following the release of the company's third fiscal-quarter financial report.

But Mr. Jones, who plans to retire as Rockwell's CEO at the end of this month after 12 years at the helm, said he expects three key budgetary elements to be in place by the mid-2014 that will increase stability in the defense industry. He said he expects Washington by then to have decided on any changes to sequestration, completed a strategic review of defense budget priorities, and reconciled any House and Senate differences in the fiscal 2014 budget.

(Hey Underminer - thanks for the book! Just been delivered)
BE
We are reducing our price target to 330p from 360p and moving to a Neutral rating
after reducing our FY14 and FY15 EBITA forecasts by 11% and 13%,
respectively. Our new forecasts reflect a lower base of underlying EBITA in FY13
than we had previously forecast and the restructuring plan presented at H1.

BE
We believe the implementation of the restructuring plan by the new management team
is likely to drive an improvement in Chemring's profitability and cash flow, despite the
headwinds from tough defence markets. We estimate there is further upside of c£5-10m
to EBIT, above the targeted £10m cost savings, from an improvement in execution
across the businesses and have reflected this in our forecasts.

BE
We are concerned about the continued uncertainty on the short term outlook for US
defence budgets as sequestration has not been fully implemented. This presents a
challenge to management efforts to restructure Chemring in the short term because
of the short cycle nature of many of Chemring's businesses. After reducing FY13
guidance at H1, we believe that stabilising earnings and tangible signs of
restructuring are likely to make us consider becoming more constructive on the
stock.

BE
Our new 330p PT is set at a 10% discount to our 360p fair value based on an
EV/EBITA 14E multiple of 10.5x derived from a DCF and reflects medium term
EBIT growth of 4.6%, 9% WACC, and cash conversion of 85%.

BE
I've a feeling UBS is house broker, but they might not be, so check that for yourself.
