Having said that though, potential sales figures do look exciting.

"Tie-ins for the sure-to-be-a-summertime-smash have invaded television sets, computer screens, the Internet and mobile devices, as well as every nook and cranny of the real world – from grocery aisles and drugstores to toy shops and hardware stores. Everywhere I look, one of them is staring back"

interceptor2,
Excellent UK sales are great but it is the increase in global sales that will propel the share price to a multiple of where we are now.

fido, thanks for keeping a close eye on developments, it is much appreciated. And all sounds very positive which should be reflected in the next update.

Just as well that I bought some more this week.

Thanks fido,

I didn't realise that CCT had the license for the Minions. Yes, they are certainly very popular today.

Another coup for CCT. :0)

"Character’s presence will no doubt be a huge draw attracting both boys and girls alike. Here they will be able to see and play with Clever Keet, the world’s smartest interactive toy bird, while also battling with fellow visitors with the awesome new Teksta Scorpion!"

Since this thread has turned a bit surreal (and inter-planetary), I heartily recommend that you all join me for a pan-galactic gargleblaster (or two) in the bar at the end of the universe!!

Yes cfro. And even on Vulcan we understand the appeal of the Clangers. I fed one to my pet sehlat recently and it enjoyed it immensely.

Well CCT's change of tact to concentration on world-wide sales should certainly help the company to 'live long and prosper' eh Mr_Spock!

Yes, once upon a time Character were always chasing the next big toy. But licensing has provided more stable earnings and that looks set to continue. My understanding is that Character have never lost a licence, so they must be doing something right.

Certainly agree that the share price has been holding up well through the Greek crisis...even some 'straining at the leash' going on. Rise in share price looks very likely once Greece is sorted out.

interesting for several days the price has gone up slightly due to mopping up of available shares at this level. we now have a five p spread.
465-470.
all this despite the grexit turmoil.

going to have to pay more soon.

Glaws2,
Even without the US, the global market for the clangers is huge and ofcourse the Teletubbys is truely global including the US.
It is the progressive nature of the roll out around the globe that will provide the security of earnings going forward and this security of earnings is exactly the type of thing investors like, magnified by Character being such a small company.

Glaws2,
You are half right.
The clangers is being viewed on American TV but it is William Shatner that is doing the voice over because it was thought that his soft American accent would lend itself better for the American market.
The one issue with the Clangers though, is that the US market is the one nation that is excluded from Characters global license, with Character having everwhere else.

Fido - I have been following your very well informed posts. For the worldwide market to open up and be a game changer for CCT relies on the Clangers and Teletubbies being being a sales success in the US.

Is there any evidence that the Americans will actually want these toys ? I have zero knowledge of the toy market but to me the The Clangers, based on the TV show, is quintessentially British and possibly may not appeal ? For the avoidance of doubt I am seeking knowledge not inferring any criticism.

Thanks.

Thanks for that Fido. I was aware of all that, as I spent quite an amount of time researching CCT (while watching the share price rise!) and I looked carefully at everything the board have said and done.

I have satisfied myself that the company are heading firmly in the right direction, and have built themselves a good reputation. The only concern, and it's one that investors of other companies might not consider a problem, is whether we get taken out too cheaply. It's hard to keep finding companies with the prospects that CCT have, so I would like to capture much more of the upside before CCT gets taken out.

I sensed a slightly less than perfect relationship between our joint managing directors, and wonder if that might prove a weak link further down the line. Coupled with a 21% institutional holding, that can be good or bad, depending on incentives offered by an interested party.

All in all, not the most disastrous situation; but I would like to see how much CCT can grow for a couple of years or so.

buffythebuffoon,
Not so long ago there was only one market that mattered above all the others to the big three toy companies and that was the American market. Increasingly Asia and China have grown to become important too. Thats not to say that Europe and the rest were unimportant just that taking market share in the US would be crossing the line. Thats not to say that the big three were unaware of Character because Character have worked with Entertainment One for many years and E1 is a division of Mattel.
But as far as being a threat to the main three goes, Character although considered very good at what it does was nevertheless considered just a UK sales supplier in the main with limited sales in Europe and Australasia.
It is the game changing event of going from a local supplier to a global supplier that is the issue here.
As you say there is plenty of headroomm in the share price simply because we are at the very starting point of global sales and Character have yet to be proven but consider this. Character won the Teletubby worldwide licence as a company of choice for DHX Media for being so good at what they do. DHX Media aim to grow to a point where they overtake disney in entertainment hours so it is not just about Character doing well on the world stage but also signing the right contracts that will make that success a lot easier.
As you say, once Character are recognised on the world stage then their shareprice will be considerably higher but as I have said many times, the taking of market share on a global scale is not something that is going to be taken lying down by the big three.

I think a lot of investors haven't projected the potential global sales figures, but it's very naive to believe that CCT's competitors see them as solely UK suppliers, and that's why they remain independent.

There's plenty of time to buy CCT when they have proven sales figures around the globe.

buffythebuffoon,
Yes ofcourse, but the point I was making was that people still see Character as a UK supplier which is probably the reason it is still independent.
As a global supplier there is considerable upside for earnings expectations along with increased chances of being taken out as a compeditor.

It's not about having a good Christmas, its about selling globally as opposed to locally.
The difference to the bottom line between the two is a game changer.

True, but a good Christmas for CCT in all those countries that celebrate it wouldn't do us any harm!

Cfro,
The thing about the clangers is that because it has such a strong connection for the now adults, it won't be just children who are buying them.
The clangers should do very well in the UK but it is the global sale of the products that is the game changer for Character.
