Goodness knows when this silliness will end. There seems no exhaustion to the selling. Any sensible person would say all negative news is more than priced in. I'm certainly not adding apart reinventing my dividend. I used to say who dares wins but the jack boot is well and truly pushed down here. Pain pain pain. The vast majority will not get in at the true bottom. Even those who follow the price every day. If only we knew that "today is the day" and buy a shed load and hold. Nobody rings the bell.

Why would Bitcoin crash affect the markets? I wish Bitcoin would crash. Serve the numpties right. It is a huge distraction and attracts too much attention and too many clowns. Clown finance unsurpassed!

This only seems to be going one way chaps, to me at these prices it looks such a bargain but I won't be adding any more tranches, I think I'm in heavy enough already. We might think it's a bargain but the markets and other investors don't think the same way. Just have to wait till Thursday for update and hope it's positive news us. At this rate unless it's good news I can unfortunately seeing it hit £1.50s within three weeks, and then where ?? Wish I could say something positive, unless you have just bought we must all be down heavily :-(

Pension funds have probably lost millions during this drop, all for a few idiots who can't swap their tariffs.

CarefulI keep thinking that Bitcoin will collapse one day and that will be the catalyst for a crash. You'd think utilities would take the strain if that were to happen but as you've said times are strange.

Chaos trying to work out the value of this.
Too much uncertainty.

Bought some more today.
No logic, but hoping common sense will prevail.
It will take at leat six months to see the direction of travel here.
Thursdays update will make little difference.

I do not remember anything like the collapse of this share in years of investing.
This is a utility with a steady cash flow and turnover, not Bitcoin.

Strange times in the markets.
I wonder if we are heading for some real instability elsewhere in the markets.
If Centrica can lose over 60% of its value so can every other share.

This combination of democracy and ignorance is getting dangerous.
Brexit, a clown like Trump in the White House, Catalina, and now instability in Germany.
..and the threat of Corbyn.

British Gas owner Centrica will release a third quarter trading update this week amid a government push to cap energy prices that has plunged it into hot water.Centrica's share price has tumbled around 30 per cent this year as Prime Minister Theresa May increases government intervention of the sector over so-called "rip off" energy prices.May first proposed a cap on energy prices during the General Election campaign, and earlier this month Centrica's shares were hit yet again after energy minister Greg Clark defended the cap in front of a cross-party group of MPs.Shares in Centrica closed at 163p on Friday, a low not seen for the utility giant since 2003.Chief executive Iain Conn tried to boost investor confidence last month by buying up more than £173,000 worth of shares in the company. The company will continue to face uncertainty in the months ahead as ministers work out the finer details of the legislation. The energy price cap has not been the only recent shakeup in the sector, though.SSE earlier this month revealed it was in talks with the Germany's Npower over plans to merge their gas and electricity businesses in Britain.Analysts at Macquarie said the move to consolidate was positive for SSE and Npower's owner Innogy and neutral to Centrica."Indeed we see scope for a further Big 6/Big 6 merger (E.On/Scottish Power), which could follow a similar route as SSE/Npower. We do see EDF at least exploring this possibility of consolidation, but we see it unlikely that Centrica will be able to undertake a similar exercise," they said.

I would like to wait for a bottom and buy on any new uplift provided the news stated to change and the market looked and valued all the other non BG assets.

Trying to pick bottoms most always get smelly fingers ........its a very old Stock Exchange phrase.

LG - yes true in general, that's why i was surprised when last week kepler chev, having seen the share price fall way past their TP of 1.90, recommended these as a buy (retaining the 1.90 target). I really do think, as a previous contributor has just stated, that all the bad stuff is priced in to this...hence I have bought in.

Some hope, Una. Deutsche will now lower their guidance - but only after the price goes below 150p. That's the way analysts work.

Yump, I think the public in general need to look at the amount of money the government and councils waste on a yearly basis with works that are poorly carried out and then need redoing, along with council properties constant updates that don’t need doing to roads that keep being relayed over and over. If a lot of this work was done properly in the first place, we wouldn’t need so much tax and they would actually have money in the pot for future investment instead of keep hitting the tax payer for yet more money.

Civil services are poorly maintained because they get there money and don’t have to work for it, so don’t give a fig about waste.
