06/8/2021 14:03 | Their legacy gas contract lost £58m last FY, it's a long term contract to 2025 and forecast to be loss making for the remainder of the contract.Small suppliers benefit exactly the same as here with regards to an increased cap, if not more as margins are a lot better so can undercut BG. | disc0dave45
06/8/2021 13:58 | Ofgem have announced that the level of the #EnergyPriceCap will increase by £139 from Oct 1st to £1,277 | ammu12
06/8/2021 13:32 | Announcement of huge energy price rises expected over the winter today. cap will rise. it has to as gas/ electricity prices have gone up. this could embarrass small cheap suppliers that buy customers because they have access to some cheap gas on the spot market. But this can be unreliable. Centrica have to secure significant long term supply for its customer base. This has worked against it recently. losses on legacy contracts were a feature of recent results. But spikes in energy prices can bankrupt the smaller operators. That is why many go bust. Things looking better for Centrica. | careful

05/8/2021 17:17 | Going up ant? It can't have much further to fall!!!!! There are also calls for nationalisation once again. It's not looking good as customers continue to leave for better, lower cost, providers. I'm afraid this share is going nowhere anytime soon. It will probably get back to 55-58p range at some point, but that's it. There are much better and more profitable share opportunities elsewhere. Best avoided. | norma_noog
05/8/2021 10:32 | Calls for Nationalisation again:HTTPS://mornin | disc0dave45
04/8/2021 17:08 | Is that directed at me?Doesn't really matter, got enough now anyway ? | disc0dave45
04/8/2021 16:59 | It's rich when a certain poster can't even manage his own portfolio, and then posts on CNA to the contrary. | diohohku
04/8/2021 12:25 | In H1 - "British Gas Energy residential customers fell by 114,000"Despite taking on an additional 89,000 from Simplicty and Nabuh......folks are clearly going to cheaper or better suppliers. Those that don't have such massive operational costs and overheads to meet. | disc0dave45
04/8/2021 07:47 | "There are thousands of competitors selling food, or books, but that does not threaten Tesco or Amazon." It's rare the small suppliers are cheaper for the same product in this case. | glavey
03/8/2021 14:52 | WELL SAID....NEVER OVER ESTIMATE THE INTELLIGENCE OF THE BRITISH PUBLIC......WE HAVE IDIOTS SHORTING AT 48P......LOOOOOOOOL. | ant_eater
03/8/2021 12:50 | Are they really so stupid? The only thing that motivates people is money and you don't need to pay a premium when it's the same energy. | ohoh
03/8/2021 11:37 | lots of activity here, nice bounce to short @48p! | jayson26jay
03/8/2021 10:28 | We expect a lot of energy companies will want to trade energy operating from their bedrooms in some cases. I can't understand the mentality of those that switch. Bogus savings dealing with cowboys and spivs. There are thousands of competitors selling food, or books, but that does not threaten Tesco or Amazon. But then no one ever got rich by overestimating the intelligence of the British public. I still believe there is hope here, good to see the share price in a good mood today. | careful
03/8/2021 07:48 | Inevitable, but the upcoming price cap rise will alleviate some of the pain. | bookbroker
03/8/2021 06:50 | There seems a considerable lack of interest amongst the small energy providers to aggressively go after new business of late. Some must have messed up on their contracts over the past year. Let's see if any hit the rocks this winter. | glavey
02/8/2021 21:30 | Why would these energy startup even try to get into crowded market? Margins are negligible. Some just 'harvest' customers with loss leading deals then pass them on elsewhere. The so called 'green levy' is another outrage. | careful
02/8/2021 20:09 | Bulb, Octopus, Ovo, Avro, So, ESB, Pure Planet, Simplicity, Green, Green Star, Shell, Utility Point, People's Energy, Neon Reef, Out Fox the Market, Power Shop, Sainsbury's, Spark, Scottish Power, SSE, Co-Op energy, Utilita, Zog, etc etc There are about 82 or so, if you think it will return to the "four" again I think you are very much mistaken - BG is more likely to be nationalised. | disc0dave45
02/8/2021 19:38 | The energy cap rising will make this a giant again, most of the smaller entities are losing money hand over fist, another failed Govt. strategy to increase competition gone spectacularly wrong! EOn, EDF, NPower, CNA the survivors. | bookbroker
02/8/2021 18:07 | Yeah if the regulator says op margins have to stay at 1% forever then it's not great. Good news - they haven't. IMO | wigwammer |
