This company has become a pointless entity since Conn set the rot in. Apart from providing gas for households what is the point as an investment. O’Shea started the process of breaking it up, he should complete the task without hesitation, irrespective of the prices achieved. But where is the bottom, and as for the outlook, if it is no good for CNA then what hope has any other supplier.

European markets set for muted open as investors react to earnings, Fed decision Published Thu, Jul 29 20212:04 AM EDT Elliot Smith @ElliotSmithCNBC Key Points Thursday’s European trading session will be guided by another bumper day for corporate earnings. Credit Suisse, Shell, Total, Volkswagen and Airbus are just some of the big names reporting results. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell cautioned in a press conference Wednesday that although the U.S. economy has made progress, it still has some way to go before the central bank would look to tighten its accommodative monetary policy stance. LONDON — European stocks are set for a quiet open as investors digest a fresh round of major corporate earnings and the U.S. Federal Reserve’s reiteration of its dovish policy stance. Britain’s FTSE 100 is set to open around 6 points lower at 7,011, Germany’s DAX is seen around 29 points lower at 15,541 and France’s CAC 40 is expected to drop around 7 points to 6,602, according to IG data.

Back to 47p. 44p or lower soon. This has been one dog of a share with things likely to worsen over the winter months. Still no dividend. Probably best to purchase recovery stocks in the travel sector such as Saga, IAG and NEX and avoid CNA at all costs.

With such a low net debt and the recovery in oil prices of Brent Crude from 20 to 74 dollars a barrel ....CNA is a sitting duck for PE vultures . No golden share here. When that happens the govt might wake up. Won't ultimately be good for the workforce either.

Lack of a clear strategy going forward, plus the continued loss of customers to cheaper, smaller providers means a likely retrace to the mid 40s (around 44). Regarding reintroduction of a dividend, can't see this in the current climate. 75p a share is a long way off. This share is not looking good and probably best avoided. Use your capital on better opportunities elsewhere.

European markets set for lower open as investors watch earnings, Covid, extreme weather Published Tue, Jul 27 20212:18 AM EDT Elliot Smith @ElliotSmithCNBC Key Points Earnings continue to hold the spotlight for European investors, with Dassault Systemes, Moncler, Telecom Italia, Campari, Randstad, Reckitt Benckiser and FirstGroup among those reporting Tuesday. Monday saw wildfires rage in regions across southern Europe as hot weather and powerful winds took hold. The north of the continent continued a cleanup operation after days of torrential rain and flooding, following deadly floods in Germany and surrounding countries last week. LONDON — European markets look set to pull back slightly on Tuesday as investors continue to monitor corporate earnings, along with extreme weather and the spread of Covid-19 across the continent. Britain’ FTSE 100 is seen around 23 points lower at 7,002, Germany’s DAX is set to slide by around 42 points to 15,577 and France’s CAC 40 is expected to edge around 9 points lower to 6,570, according to IG data.

Ps they've stated that collateral received/posted has now been removed from their net debt calculation so circa £56m for H1 (but not certain if it would have been deducted from the £93m if not removed from the calc - which would mean on a like for like it's reduced net debt to only £37m?).

They've already got pension deficit payments to make (£175m pa) and its fallen from £1.9bn to £1.5bn. So guess payments already accounted for.Still doesn't explain IMO O'Sheas strategy to drive debt to such a low level, he was okay as CFO when it was a lot higher. Something afoot, PE sniffing possibly?......naaah lol.

Probably more concerned about plugging the pension deficit, that needs addressing, dividend not that important this year. Likely that if the Govt. extends the price cap there will be more failures which will play in to the hands of CNA. Can’t see it benefitting smaller entrants, it is all about scale.
