A lot of if's in there supermarky.

If I had won the lottery, I would be laughing. If I owned a care home, I would have no future worries. If I had made enough money early on, I could have made big private pension contributions. If I had not put my money into Equitable Life, if my wife hadn't gone off with the milkman and taken all my assets. If, if, if.

There are a lot of poor pensioners, with no way of improving their lot, eaking out an existence way below the poverty level. Remarkably they don't all live in five bedroom mansions afforded by the unfair largesse of the government. Many of them never made enough money to make any sort of meaningful contribution to a private pension. They are the working class poor. Many will have spent a working life as the sort of 'key workers' who make your life comfortable. So don't generalise.

I would have thought that nuclear could be a great asset if they could get it working properly.
All of that faffing around with Chinese Involvement on new build, Centrica's nuclear assets could be come valuable.
Helps HMG meet their carbon emissions target.

Which is good, because if they succeed China can build a few more coal fired power stations.

Hi All,

Just trying to decide where this is going. Looks like good sentiment off the back of the Direct Energy sale, but I can't determine if this is a trap created by the larger institutions that will come back in and short it.

If I could get a sense of the upside for this share then I think it could head further north but I haven't seen anything that would suggest this has growth potential in the short term , especially as the US side is or will be sold off and not contribute to future earnings. The Nuclear and Spirit is a noose around the companies neck, especially the massive costs associated with decommissioning the nuclear plants. Have I got this completely wrong.

if you think the pension at present is lousy just wait untill its your turn,i predict the state pension will be gone in a decade or two,how many on zero hour contracts/min wage/min hrs, have the capacity to save for a private pension, the young for the most are are looking at penury for the future retirement.

Spot on and all the resulting job cuts brought on by the price cap. Nobody seems to feel sorry for all these poor people who have lost their livelihoods working for centrica.
