This has some signs of being softened up for a cheap takeover offer. I doubt that it is all due to disappointment about lack of a buy-back announcement.
Didn't RTD or NSB (can't remember - it was 12-15 yrs ago) have an unexplained dull period before being taken over? Not to mention VEC and recently SUR.

Thanks Adam, Monday is the cut off day for me. If we see no buyback or strength on the back of it I'll be out. Not worth the frustration anymore

Exchanged messages with the CEO: he feels they're barred from making any decisions re the buyback as at present they're in a close period ahead of their Q1s on Monday.

I take it from that that we should logically expect to see it begin next week and therefore help put a floor under the share price

re Kestrel: or perhaps there's some other corporate action which would require shareholder support which they've broght Kestrel inside on to see whether they would support it? Tender offer for [x]% of their shares? Change of listing venue?

Perhaps, going back to someone else's suggestion a few posts ago, the company has received an approach? The Board would need to speak to Kestrel early about any deal given their support would dictate the success of an offer...and obviously once Kestrel are inside, they wouldnt be able to trade.

Not saying that that has happened, but its one possible explanation

Notice kestrel not stepping in with confidence for this discount either.

Agreed Rik. Will help show the FCF generation and quieten some of the bears. Difficult to think there will be anything negative at all in there given that they were only doing investor rounds and the AGM a couple weeks ago

Q1 report due on 15 May so hopefully that will bring some focus back on the value here.

Mello2023 - have you got your ticket yet?

CentralNic will be there on Wednesday 24th May

There will be so much to enjoy by attending in person and meeting, not just hundreds of fellow likeminded investors that you engage with on Advfn daily, but also watching excellent presentations and panel sessions created to help us all understand what is happening in the world of investing.

We will have a live BASH panel session on the Tuesday evening and a lot of educational sessions during the day including a close look at AI and ChatGPT

Not to be missed will be the lunchtime session on day two when Leon Boros and I will be interviewing the amazing CEOs who have delivered multibagging returns for their shareholders and establishing what key traits and skills investors should be looking for in their search for great management...always essential in smaller companies. Two of these CEO's have delivered 100 (one hundred) times the original investment.

Do not miss our keynote speakers including the ever popular Lord Lee and Gervais Williams plus a couple of new stars of the investment world.

Mello is a huge community and forty other companies will be there too...

Looking back at the buy back announced in Dec, they took 18 days from announcement of it for it to begin.

18 days from AGM approval this time would be 13th May, so perhaps not quite as slow (for them) as it seems, but not sure why it needs to take 18 days.

I'm not worried about trading given its such as short time since the last update

I wonder if they would hold fire, if potential bid talks were happening in the background. Isn't adding up for now

Agree about the buyback Doobz. I wonder whether there's an innocent reason for it not having been started yet.

For example, whilst a broker would run it and therefore be arms length from any price sensitive information so could act whevever it likes, I wonder whether there is some rule about not instructing a corporate broker to run such a programme when something material is in the offing?

I cant otherwise think of an innocent reason why they havent started it yet. Will email the company and see what emerges.

The latter, I believe. They just react to supply/demand to maximise liquidity so they can make as much money as possible via highest trading volumes, so they move price up and down to try and find what price will encourage trading to happen?

I wonder if market makers analyze the stock's potential or do they make prices purely based on supply and demand?

Cheers from me too Hastings - a very thorough run-through which should dispel some of the misconceptions propagated by some commentators (notably on Stockopedia!).

In particular imo the new agreement with Microsoft has been underplayed - it's good to see the CEO noting that there's substantial potential from this in the next 2-3 years.
