09/11/2021 10:37 | Yes had loads of St Georges mushrooms this year too rose! | spawny100
09/11/2021 10:36 | AA I just posted this on TXP board regarding being boringly sensible! Have a look there. Big onshore oil strike yesterday. "Che7win I also used to hold many more shares in TXP than I do now. But after betting the farm here my aim was to pay off the mortgage. I've been quite boring and taken that money needed to do so and put into a few "safe" dividend shares. Coincidentally the projected income for 2021 from that pot exactly covers the mortgage payments so I see no reason to pay it off now! And whilst I have many fewer shares in TXP I have about double my initial stake in value ( and some in some other speculative potential high growth shares) . So all good. I was boringly sensible in order to avoid a rags to riches story of my own here if all went pear shaped." | spawny100
09/11/2021 10:29 | I live in the woods. We had baskets of Saint George's mushrooms this spring. Very early (St. George's day) so not easily confused with anything toxic. Wonderful in cream of mushroom soup or any dairy based sauce. Lots of other mushrooms here, can't keep up with them. | rose_by_another_name
09/11/2021 10:24 | O/T Spawny ...I.m jealous! Good advice though. Go on a few organised trips first. I used to microscope all finds , spore size/shape, basidium size, structure etc but too lazy these days. This addiction has taken over. It.s just interesting here. I worked in investment for 30+ years, it.s a hard habit to break. I only dabble these days ...more akin to gambling really ...and with just a small % of my 'wealth'. I.ve seen too many peeps wiped out with silly porfolio design. Have between 4-8 shares, you wont make a fortune but you wont be wiped out either. Hard to do bcos greed, belief in your own skills takes over your brain. All too tiring for me these days. | amanitaangelicus
09/11/2021 09:08 | I'm a forager myself Amanita hence recognising the name. Best advice is to learn the ones that can kill you first! We just had a great holiday round Scotland in a van where the woods were loaded with edible delights like birch boletes, chanterelle, oysters, slippery Jack's etc. | spawny100
09/11/2021 09:01 | Hi Spawny ...not really, just taking my money. Some you win ,some you use. Good spot mycologically speaking. When you eat one, and the symptoms appear, it s already too late. Only ever found one when out with the British Mycological Society. Anything with a volva, web remnant, scales on cap make me twitchy ...especially if white, offwhite, greenish tinge. Good time to be out and about! | amanitaangelicus
09/11/2021 08:50 | Odd choice of timing to close a trade here destroying Angel no? All the signs to me are that this is going up from here. I'm also considerably more than 80 quid up from 91p purchases but see no reason to close them yet. | spawny100
09/11/2021 08:41 | Yes Plat on Toronto- I generally ignore it these days as volumes are very low, and I've never understood how the price varies... maybe someone else on this board who fully understands the relationship between the two can provide an explanation? | stevedaytrader
09/11/2021 08:21 | There's really no pattern... sometimes gold goes up, sometimes down lol- anyone who finds the pattern waits til after the event then claims the pattern... then it changes, then it's the new pattern lol- however, some auto systems work on them... either way, every time it pulls back a little, it drives a bit higher... here's hoping and look at the macro economic info here ... | stevedaytrader
09/11/2021 08:20 | Why hasnt gold surged? Crypto gambling for me. Until it crashes properly, many people will continue to punt their ill-gotten gains( international drug syndicates, iffy govs, dictators etc) in this direction, or at least in part, rather than gold. I suspect the demand for gold is falling in general, something I never thought would happen. Is gold holding an anachronism today? I know they.ll always be gold holdings in places like India etc but has there bn a fundamental mindshift elsewhere?Has the ease at which QE seemed to save us, at least in the short term, made peeps think 'why hold gold'. Dont get me wrong, I believe a currency should be underpinned with gold holdings but it doesnt seem to be necessarily true anymore. A gold dealing friend of mine once said that all the current 'found' gold in the world, could be fitted into the space between the legs of the Eiffel Tower to the first level.(15ish yrs ago) It.s pretty rare unlike Crypto which seems ethereal but, like all currencies, is based on belief, and, ' I promise to pay the bearer ...' Nice trade just completed ...out for now ...took my considerably more than 80 quid out. | amanitaangelicus

08/11/2021 16:12 | Cey continues to lag behind poly, fres, and paf. Will catch up at some point. December 1st the catalyst I hope. | swinsco
08/11/2021 16:01 | I guess the gold price will go down tomorrow due to profit taking... then will rebound by $50 or more on Wednesday driven by CPI | 338
08/11/2021 15:41 | Well I've persuaded myself to sample some of these - a couple of chunks, so I can trade 1 and sell 1. This approach is also used on POLY (c70 chunks) and FRES (c50 chunks) - from small acorns etc. Main reason is I want another stamp-duty free trading share, and this fits the bill. Plus it seems, today, to be breaking a downtrend. Seems only fair to warn you... | imastu pidgitaswell
08/11/2021 15:02 | True very true. Just like the cey price Shorters i guess | spacedust
08/11/2021 14:41 | It goes down fast up slowly | system64 |
