WIM JANSEN - CELTIC HEAD COACH

Celtic's Managing Director, Fergus McCann and General Manager,
Jock Brown, announced that Dutch legend Wim Jansen is their
new Head Coach.

Fergus McCann remarks "This appointment is of considerable
importance to everyone who cares about Celtic.   That is why
it has been important not to make a quick and careless
decision.   Our approach has been to consider all the
credentials of the world's top coaches, research their
backgrounds, personalities and desires for success.   The
process has taken time and travel to eight different
countries.   The end result is that we have selected a man of
the highest reputation, a world renowned and respected
tactical expert with a reputation of a strong but fair
management style combined with a history of attacking, passing
football at the highest level as a coach and a player.   I am
delighted that Wim has agreed to join Celtic on a three year
contract".

Jock Brown comments "I am delighted to present a man of Wim's
credentials as the new Head Coach of Celtic.   Wim has played
and coached at the highest level.   Wim has 65 caps for
Holland and starred beside Neeskans, Cruyff and all the top
names of arguable one of Europe's greatest and most
entertaining teams.   As a player he has won cups, leagues and
the European Cup as well as playing in two World Cup Finals.
Wim also brings a wealth of football knowledge from countries
including Holland, Belgium and America.   Wim is one of the
most respected figures in world coaching and will be an asset
in taking Celtic to the next stage in its development".

Wim Jansen (53), Celtic Head Coach, comments "It's a big
challenge that I welcome.   Celtic has always had a special
place in my memories.   Celtic was involved in the greatest
day of my career (1970 European Cup Final against Feyenoord)
and I want to bring Celtic back to the highest level.   I am
delighted to be joining such a famous Club".

Johan Cruyff remarks "I have been in touch with Celtic to
congratulate them on the appointment of a top class coach in
Wim Jansen, who has been a close colleague and friend of mine
for many years.   It's a massive statement of Celtic's
ambition.   I have no doubt that he will be a huge success".
