'Sky Sports are currently reporting that Crystal Palace winger Jeffrey Schlupp could join Celtic tonight. The 32-year-old is out of contract with the Eagles in the summer and the two clubs are reportedly negotiating how much of Schlupp's wage the Scottish Premiership side will cover. The former Ghana international has not started a Premier League match all season but has made 12 appearances from the bench.'
-- no goals, no assists |
target clubs have celtic over a barrel for a new striker having let kyogo go. |
Would Kyogo have held on to that that long ball from Hatate that led to the winner v Young Boys? I think Kyogo would have been brushed off the ball. Idah is the man. |
Adam Idah. lol. |
So far so good. 5 minutes gone and we are only 2-0 down. Amazing effort to hold out for 3 minutes before finally caving in. |
He's not in the eufa squad so can't be picked |
is johnny kenny cup-tied for playing with shamrock in the uefa conference? it seems to be the only logical reason for the 2nd week of 2 goalies on the bench and his absence from the team sheet |
I would rest Johnston as well as he's booking away from missing next match, play Ralston, it's job already done. |
villa game - no kyogo, no maeda, no ccv - this could go pear shaped very quickly |
![](https://images.advfn.com/static/default-user.png) 'In a farewell message released by Celtic, Kyogo said: "Over the past three-and-a-half years, I have been truly grateful for your wonderful support and cheering From the moment I joined until my final day, I've been happy every step of the way.
"Being able to enjoy so many wonderful moments and achievements with all of you made me feel like the happiest player in the world countless times. I believe these invaluable experiences were only possible because I came to Celtic.
"Even as the time goes on, I am deeply moved and encouraged by the many warm messages and kind words I continue to receive, and I cannot thank you enough. I move forward but I will keep all of you in my heart and continue on my journey.
"Lastly, I am very sorry that I couldn't say goodbye to you all, but I will give my best in my new chapter. I am confident that my wonderful Celtic team-mates, along with the manager and his backroom team will continue to create new and exciting moments for the rest of the season.
"Please continue to show your amazing support for Celtic, just as you always have. Hail hail." ' |
every team in the league is going to be buoyed by the departure of kyogo |
![](https://images.advfn.com/static/default-user.png) kyogo leaving, jota returning
held on to him longer than i thought we would after ange departure ...but this is where the story could be
'After netting 20 and 34 respectively in all competitions in his first two seasons under Postecoglou, the scoring rate has dropped in the past two seasons to 19 goals in 2023-24 and 12 goals in 32 games this term.'
he had a different ask under ange and diff supply line with o'reilly, mooy, rogic maeda and kuhn have taken on more goal scoring duties this season
-- 'Regular left winger Daizen Maeda is often utilised through the middle at international level with Japan and the expected return of Portuguese winger Jota may mean Maeda moves into that central role. However, his work in the channels – taking on full-backs and turning defences with his pace while hassling them when out of possession – is so invaluable to the way Celtic play that deploying Maeda centrally may be solving one problem by creating another. Johnny Kenny has been brought into the first-team fold after a prolific goalscoring spell on loan at Shamrock Rovers but is still to prove himself at the top level. With a domestic Treble to play for and a first appearance in the Champions League knockout stages since 2013 still to come this season, Celtic will surely look to beef up their attacking options this January window.'
-- the odds are stacked against the replacement |
Why, without McGinn AV have been pretty average although to be fair we're way off our game. We're through and no pressure, Valle for Taylor and stick extra midfielder in Bernardo or McCowan for suspended Maeda and see how we go. |
look at how many teams are on 12/13 pts its very difficult to see a win or draw at villa park |
2 goalies on the bench!
--------------Schmeichel Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Trusty, Taylor ------Engels, McGregor, Hatate ---------Kuhn, Kyogo, Maeda
Substitutes:
----------Sinisalo, Bain Ralston, Nawrocki, Scales, Murray, Valle -----Yang, Bernardo, McCowan, Palma -----------------Idah
out: forrest [injured], johnny kenny [?]
-- alternative: mccowan ahead of hatate |
'...but we know better' we do! lol |
Kasper's deal has been renewed until 2026 great news for the hoops 👍👌 |
Most think tonights match will be an easy win but we know better. I think it will be edge of your seat stuff as usual. Celtic 2 Young Boys 1. |
aston villa lost and drop to 9th [13pts, gd +5] a psg/man city draw would also be good news
a celtic win tomorrow would put them a point behind villa on 12
-- YB results
0-3 loss aston villa 5-0 loss barca 0-1 loss inter 2-1 loss shaktar 1-6 loss atalanta 5-1 loss stuttgart |
'Those finishing between ninth and 16th will be seeded and face a team placed 17th to 24th, with the advantage of playing the second leg at home'
big motivation to finish 16th or above |
YB played 6, lost 6, scored 3, conceded 22 [bottom of the table]
celtic need a BIG win on wed, 4-0, 5-0 territory, to head up the table in pts and gdiff - for that they need to play their 'A' game. its all very tight mid-table and celtic also have to think of the scot team euro coefficient. 1-0 would be humiliating!
other results that would help celtic if monaco bt aston villa if psg-man city draw [psg 25th, man city a place below celtic]
if the above panned out, celtic could afford to go to villa and battle out a commendable draw. it's hard to see a celtic win. celtic couldn't beat a depleted zagreb |
wrtmf Get a grip they won the match hands down and yes they had many chances (4 in the 1st half alone) to bury the game but were unlucky that's just the way it is with football it is the way the ball falls at the end of the game. |
chance after chance after chance so much wayward passing and poor shooting |
