Hopefully rest plenty players and drop others (Taylor, Phillips for starters)
Team of
Hart Ralston Nawrocki CCV Bernabei
Tomoki Bernardo O'Riley
Johnston Oh Forrest
Last chance for Bernardo, Oh, Johnston.
1-3 defeat. |
FC Copenhagen have qualified for the last 16 of Champions League at the expense of Man Utd and Galatasary. It just highlights what can be achieved by a club with a far smaller budget than us. Anyway tomorrow is the final match in a typically dire campaign. My prediction, and I hope I'm wrong is ;
Celtic 1 Feyenoord 2
If we lose again Rodgers is going to be under pressure. |
Rodgers wants a transfer budget for January does he? Who says he is to be trusted? Failed to replace Joe Hart in the summer. Jack Butland was available for free and is putting in match-winning performances at Rangers.
Surely a good manager can always think of a goalkeeper or two that could do a job?

it's gonna be tight going into the new year rangers tails are up
at about the 75-80min mark I read, Celtic no shots on target in the 2nd half |
Celtic XI: Hart, A Johnston, Phillips, Scales, Taylor, Tomoki, McGregor, O'Riley, M Johnston, Palma, Oh. ///Substitutes: Bain, Kyogo, Yang, Turnbull, Nawrocki, Bernabei, Bernardo, Forrest, Ralston.
-- its been a long run without any of kyogo, maeda, hatate in the starting line up, dec 2021 i think. |
you've put me straight MickinVest. I assumed that as he had failed to impress at Brighton or his loan to Stoke City, that he would have been a low fee signing for Rangers. As it is, he is just in the shop window at Ibrox to the benefit of Brighton.
Who may well receive an offer for him in January.
Asagi (long CCP) |
Rangers don't have any option to buy Sima Asagi and don't see them in any position to offer the £7m Brighton will be looking for him.
Good 2nd half performance after a dire 1st half yesterday and Taylor, Yang and to a lesser extent Hart poor again. |
Anyone think Lawrence Shankland would be a good addition in the next window? I just think we need someone with a bit of muscle up front beside Kyogo. And he's scoring for Scotland,at Ibrox and in Europe with Hearts. Every time I see him on telly he is Hearts' standout player.
And a replacement for Taylor obviously. And not a small guy. We need more height in the team. |
'"We need to add quality. That's the glaring thing that stands out," the Celtic manager said. "This group has shown they can compete in some games, but what makes the difference is genuine quality. That's something we can hopefully resolve over the next couple of windows." '

the red cards didn't help + good points from mick and asagi above |
should have played for a draw away at Feyenoord. Played for a draw at home and away to Lazio.
Giving Atletico a game is another thing. While a draw was secured, I think that we all expected no points from those two games.
Instead, Celtic have failed to pick up points in games where points were totally pickupable.
The board needs to put its foot down and set the manager a points target: not let him think his job is to get Celtic out of the group.

Because it can't be any worse!
It will be 8 different teams and we have enough projects in the team, all signings should be first team ready over the next two windows and doubt anyone wants to buy the dross we have at the moment based on their CL performances. |
How on earth will 8 games suit us better? The more the games the worse it is going to be for us. We are a complete irrelevance in Europe and especially so in the Champions League. A total embarrassment. |
Hopefully the 8 game CL suits us better next season if we qualify!
Sick of the sight of Taylor and felt I'm in a parallel universe for years listening to people saying he's good enough. I think the two Scotland games finally put an end to that idea and him and Yang and Hart showed they aren't good enough for next season. Could probably add Forrest and Oh.
Huns having cup final and probably at least 4 more competitive Europa games should work in our favour although we need to sort our signing policy out about buying players ready to step into the first 11. Palma, Maeda, Hatate and Abada are big players to miss. |
2-0 well said asagi
...concentrate on the league... |
"Bernardo off, Oh on for Celtic. Going for it now!"
you buffoon, Rodgers. Celtic need to learn how to eke out results before they will ever know how to win games. There's a chance here to secure a creditable point. Instead tactics appear to be: risk it, because you just don't know, we might beat these guys and Feyenoord.
Get real.

'Just the two touches for Kyogo Furuhashi so far...No other Celtic player has fewer than 20.' |
17:45 kick-off in Rome tonight. Let's hope that the team manages to add some shareholder value.

Champions League again this week unfortunately. We are Celtic and we will lose obviously but by how much?
My prediction is Lazio 4 Celtic 0
Given it's Celtic, in the champions league, away to an Italian side, losing by only 4 goals would be a real achievement.
Why cant Brendan set the team up to defend and play on the break? We have some players who should be able to play well on the break. He should play a back 5 and bring in Phillips to play as another centre half. If we try and go toe to toe we'll get thrashed as usual. |
The penalty was soft. Although the other lot did not gain any points this weekend it was still a positive weekend for them since away to Aberdeen is one of the toughest fixtures outside the OF. |
ange's spurs starting to fall away 3 losses on the trot |
I guess at the end of the day, another set of fixtures has passed without Rangers closing the gap to Celtic. Running out of road.
Asagi (long CCP) |
well done aberdeen and thanks, celtic let off the hook, not learning the lesson of not taking your chances [in this massive season of all seasons]
was it a soft last minute penalty for rangers to save their blushes? - haven't seen the incident |
there's the value of a dependable penalty taker made plain.
