16/2/2009 12:09 | Just sold my stake for a little profit. Hope to pick some again soon. | joeainsworth
16/2/2009 11:56 | 527,000 sold today, still onwards and recovery upwards, v.encouraging. looks like soaked up by institutions... which is good obviously in terms of less short term PI's but concerning if plan is buy out @ a low price (as per wywcu1)... like I said £3 for mine, MrsP wants £3.50... I think she might be right | dpeach
13/2/2009 18:58 | last years earnings @ 33c per share equate to 23.5p@ today's exchange rate. So we might expect to see this year's earnings come in @ 27p - a huge improvement on the current consensus, bringing the P/E below 7 | dennis russell
13/2/2009 15:45 | wywcu1 my concern exactly, expressed my concerns to JLC yesterday which he responded to last night (which J asked to remain in confidence so it will), in my mail I did put a figure of £3 a share ... which at todays exchange rate is around $4 compared to $6 a year ago thats a 33% saving. | dpeach
13/2/2009 15:36 | curious, touchy arent we ;) I'm not selling celsis as I have non to sell ! ..sold long time ago as dpeach knows. Just pop in on news for a gander every now and then .. | woracle
13/2/2009 15:25 | I am now getting a little concerned that we will get taken out on the cheap. I have held for 10 odd years and was expecting a larger S.P. by now. Jay must now reinstate the dividend to increase the S.P. | wywcu1
13/2/2009 15:23 | curious... thats naughty | dpeach
13/2/2009 15:22 | question for Woracle. What else are you selling? Please respond ASAP. | curious
13/2/2009 15:21 | thought i'd add the RNS.. AND I thought it was Cel buying back shares, agree totally with Boadicea that the statement played down certain important areas. ==================== 3. 13/2/2009 00:14 | LOL Riv, so now you agree they are going nowhere fast ;).. no catalyst and many other competive stocks for our funds e.g did I mention RCG as an example back in mid Nov :) I know you know them well. I do agree the tone isnt great. OK, will be back on next news.. But at the moment still isnt at the head of the Q for my funds. Good luck holders.. | woracle
12/2/2009 17:02 | I have been watching RCG today rather than CEL but the following points come to mind on looking back on here. First, the day's graph looks like a typical mm fishing expedition or at least an attempt to pay out less than generously to known short term holders/liquidators. Secondly, remembering that the company reports in US$, their rather flat results projection will be as in that currency. It won't look flat when converted to sterling - in fact given that there will still be "modest profit growth", a simple year-end translation will possibly show profit up by 40%. (Rather less if translated as yesteryear's now irrelevant historical average.) "The Group believes that for the year as a whole it will sustain its revenue position and deliver modest profit growth with continued stronger performances by its core Rapid Detection and In Vitro Technologies product divisions." While I am sure the statement is 100% accurate, it also seems to be phrased in a way that avoids pointing up the advantages of a foreign income stream. This one stays firmly in my portfolio. If there's one thing I want to hedge against it's a sustained collapse in the pound followed by (1974-1984 experience) rampant inflation. | boadicea
12/2/2009 16:19 | gets better, i think company has bought back shares today to support the share price . closed the gap alot between open & close anyway | dpeach
12/2/2009 15:22 | well seems like someone is happy to soak up the sells | dpeach
12/2/2009 13:34 | Looks as if there is flat sales with profit growth due only to stoping losses Cant be better than hold until better times | zipstuck
12/2/2009 13:18 | I am afraid i have sold all as well having held for quite some time. My reason is my belief that there is a good chance that the market will fall to 3950 then 3650 and possibly 3250; whatever CEL merits, this stock will find new lows. However i respect other peeps views- you pays your money and takes your choice. | philo124
12/2/2009 12:03 | well thats interesting impressive jump back, has taken it back to 160p support line and put it back in the 'up' channel support | dpeach
12/2/2009 11:27 | I too don't see the announcement as containing anything unexpected and still believe this is a good share to have. I continue to hold. | geoffg
12/2/2009 09:49 | Verger, have to agree, just checked trades and imo indicates 160,000 rolled over and blocks of 75,000 and 42,500 block also bought this morning. Agree with Davidosh IMHO plays into JLC, CM hands as lower share price will mean a mbo could potentially be cheaper for them, have emailed JLC & CM to say this, this morning, I also included that as a PI would be looking at £3 p/share ($4) Also noted to them how they often state aim to increase shareholder value / share price price - so suggested a divi again. | dpeach
12/2/2009 09:43 | What did people expect? What did those pushing up the price expect? This statement is very acceptable in present conditions, and the share price remains low for an excellent company. | verger
12/2/2009 09:42 | The nil dividend has always been my complaint and I did raise the subject at the last Agm....In most defensive plays there will be a steady dividend return and if this is only seen as a growth play you need growth to excite investors with their cash. When there are so many on very low ratings that can be difficult. I still like the company and its ability to weather the downturn and the cash backing rather than debt worries. However management need to show they can take action on the Analytical Division and also keep investors happy with buybacks or dividends or the share price will probably drift back. That of course may not worry them directly if planning a buyout or they wish to buy shares but investors in these markets want good secure dividends or a confident growth pattern and CEL is falling in between it seems. That is not to say the share price is expensive and long term will no doubt be fine. | davidosh
12/2/2009 09:10 | Flow agree resistance around 160p mark, currently sitting at 163p - bid 162.5, offer at 163.4. looking at trades on Plus & LSE a few purchases started to come through. SteMis agree statement not bad at all plus stimulus should come from pre close update in March, modest growth (a positive in these times) - problem is no return for cash from bank accounts, etc | dpeach
12/2/2009 09:09 | We knew that the Analytical & Development Services were under strategic review. The Rapid Detection Division has indicated a pick up in activity. The In Vitro Technologies Division is projecting growth. They have plenty of cash, no skeletons in the cupboard & are doing well despite market conditions. To me CEL is still one of the best plays in the equities market and since equities are now a small part of my overall investment portfolio, I am quite content to hold. It'll be interesting to see if 160p becomes a good support level. I might even top up there! Flow | go with the flow |
