22/1/2009 13:13 | "I'm sure there is value still in Cardinal." Yes, if you're on the board, you'll have a nice fat pension ready when it's time to retire to that villa by the sea after a hard life of wasting honest folks money..... but until then you'll just have to make do with that huge salary......... pity it's not performance related! Any jobs going at cardinal or toerax or whatever the fc*k they call themselves these days. | david brent

01/1/2009 15:25 | Hi jam2day! Happy New Year to everyone - hopefully it will be more prosperous than 2008! It would be difficult to make it less prosperous stockmarketwise - but then you never quite know what might happen........ As for Cardinal - there is some life in the old dog yet. Or at least the body is still twitching. This link shows that Cardinal changed its name to Taurex Resources on 30th December 2008. And this link shows that a related company Taurex Resources Finance Limited has changed its name and issued a new Memorandum and Articles of Association within the last couple of weeks. No doubt this company was the old Cardinal Resources Finance Limited. Rob Bensh also got authority from shareholders at the 2nd December 2008 AGM for Cardinal to borrow up to $100M - the acid test will be whether he actually manages to raise real cash in addition to the $25M Condor facility agreed last June. Rob Bensh was also at an Adam Smith conference in Kiev in early October the 17th photograph (just) shows Rob Bensh - so maybe we are not completely done there either. For a bit of (what appears to be) inside info I'd recommend a look at bb44's post 361 (and the several preceding that) of 30th December 2008 on the CAD thread. He seems to have been at the same Adam Smith conference as Rob Bensh in early October. The posts give a very interesting insight into the Ukrainian oil and gas market and interalia Cardinal's difficulties therein - and he appears to have a greater understanding and better indepth knowledge of this than all the other posters on here combined. It perhaps explains some of the real problems Cardinal had there, and why Rob Bensh was confident throughout most of 2007 that he would succeed at the end of the day. Of course the failure to remain there is history and maybe we will find out the full story one day. I have no doubt however that it will be a long haul back to trading on the stock market, (and in a delayed answer to David Brent of 21st November - yes I do believe it will be about 12-18 months - unless OPEC were to cut by another 5Mb, and to return earlier would do no favours at all for shareholders, and indeed would be a considerable disservice) but I believe that we will get there (despite Cardinal's present quite serious financial difficulties as outlined in the Annual Report) - ultimate success may depend upon the oil price stabilizing and then recovering - I'm sure it will during 2009, and the price will be driven by cuts in supply and economic events. There are lots of cheap oilers out there at the moment, which no doubt means there are cheap assets available to buy. Maybe Rob Bensh and Cardinal/Taurex will be able to take advantage - if the $18M funding can be raised successfully. So, Happy New Year and Cardinal/Taurex is still alive and kicking its way into 2009:-) Regards, Xena | xenawarriorprincess
