Warren Buffett is fine in principle but in practice it can be well nigh impossible to find situations in the London market that fit his criteria, and being restricted by it can mean missing some grand slam winners.

I recall when he took a stake in Guinness in the 1980s, on the 'brand value' theory. Thank goodness I didn't follow him.

Thought you might be interested in this link. I have used it, and bought Persimmon and RBS stocks. Do you think these qualify as Buffet stocks at current prices?

Down 7% now.

Interesting that US investors can follow the master and get in cheaper than he recently did.

Guru Focus is OK imo but you can be made aware of Buffett's actions faster if you log into Google News and type in Warren Buffett.

Glad some of you have found the new thread already. I find this man fascinating. Humble, almost spiritual - yet a goliath of the investing world.

It's almost a contradiction.

Thanks for the video link Liarspoker. I will watch with the utmost interest.

Here is the chart for his recent purchase in the BNSF

It would be interesting to see which UK stocks people think would qualify as Buffett stocks and why.

I must admit to taking a big interest in the man and his stock selection criteria sometime ago and have invested some of my longer term portfolio accordingly.

I am fairly busy this weekend but I am happy to post details about a few shares which I think would suit.

Here is one:

The price is fairly high but the prospects amazingly good. There's a brief description in the header.

BTW GSands - I took notes of the Florida Speech, typed them out and stuck them on the inside of my long term folder. ;o)
