Bad news for any prospective new investors in BT, due to the share price recently rising to 223p the dividend is now returning less than 7% (it's only 6.9% at yesterday's close).
Moreover when the share price reaches 261p then the divi return will be just 5.9%.
But worse is to come because when the share price hits 314p then the divi return drops to a mere 4.9%.
I for one, intend to keep strong throughout these testing times ;)

Toon. Yep. Hopefully stabilizing but it's still early doors.
I would settle for favourable report and even slightly disappointing Q1 as the report will set some of the future path.
Then once we go ex div in early August they can then soon after announce the new CEO hopefully. (And that could recoup the ex-divi share price reduction).
Fingers crossed but have seen this kind of turn around in share price many times following a few years of bad news. But what do I know eh?

IMO It all depends what is in the 'DCMS 2018 future telecoms infrastructure review' which will be published over the next couple of weeks.
If that's favourable then that's 10-20p added on the day and a quicker move upwards.
Interesting couple of weeks coming :)

Looking at the chart, this has reached the 225 range early. Hence, I expect the share price to reach 235 soon enough after a small retrace to 218-220. AIMO

Hard to argue with...

''It doesn’t look to be smooth sailing for British Telecom’s outgoing boss, Gavin Patterson, as a recommendation to reject his bonus has arrived in time for the next shareholder meeting.

Leading proxy voting and policy advisor Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) reckons that Patterson's near £1.3m bonus (a whopping 130 per cent of his salary) was "considered too large, in our view, for the level of performance".

The advisors pulled no punches, pointing that the share price had "fallen significantly" during the year - down 25 per cent - so giving the former CEO a wheelbarrow of cash to push through the door on his way out stuck in the craw somewhat.''

Good to see BT starting the day so well, long may it continue.

Hopefully, now we’ve broken the 223.75p level, it will be swiftly up to around the 238.6p area where the share price closed on 9th May, the day before the final results.

Gaps like that normally close relatively quickly, once they into no-mans land. Good luck, everyone.
