Well that has resolved any potential overhand regarding the Altice holding. He's quit as he needs the cash.

Negative is he is under pressure by banks and has to sell his direct holdings. Banks not known for their kind heart.

According to the times article "much of his stake may now be made up of borrowed shares held by banks, Morgan Stanley among them."

I am hoping that the fact that he still wants to retain exposure is a positive for BT.

Big shareholders from my experience tend to sell to institutions rather than to individuals.
So I doubt he will sell much if anything until he has found a corporate buyer.
relax.

I am more than happy with this news. He's gone into the pawn shop, needs some cash, but I'll be back to buy this very valuable asset. Smart move, release liquidity against your assets.

I guess he has not sold, as he like us likes the huge dividend..

Anyone care to speculate how much he gets a year as a BT dividend payment?

It looks like he has used the Stock for collateral but it's set up weird with all the derivatives, hence he still has voting rights.
Altice owe $60billon more than VOD and BT combined!

It may be a little premature to suggest an impending share price collapse. A few paragraphs from the Sunday Times article:

BT's relief as billionaire 'dials down' huge stake
...
The suggestion of the research into BT is that Drahi has been selling directly owned shares in the company to raise cash, while ordering bankers to borrow the equivalent number on his behalf to retain his aggregate stake in BT.
...
This could be good news for BT, whose share price has come under pressure amid concerns Drahi may suddenly need to sell his stake, flooding the market with shares.
...
New Street's research was prompted by figures showing an unusually high proportion - about 17 per cent - of BT's shares are on loan. New Street believes that between 10 per cent and 14 per cent of this relates to Drahi.
