But why are they down???...because those mag 7 overly hyped and pumped up...all the recent action was amongst mag 7 making new all time highs including the indices...mag 7 have cornered the market action...so when they get sold off the good bad and the ugly get sold off regardless of lower tier company performance...US markets are played like kidology not investing...you will now start to hear rate cut talks again...

diku: the entire global stock markets are all down...
In such situations the best companies to hold are ones that pay good dividends.
Eg BT....

Its not rocket science.

Market want to hear jam today and for this year not 2027 and 2030...too far out...

"Our ongoing cost transformation contributed to EBITDA growth, and more than offset the expected revenue declines in Consumer and Business in the quarter. There is much more to do to simplify BT Group and deliver for our customers. We remain on track to deliver our financial outlook for this year and our cash flow inflection to c. £2.0bn in 2027 and c. £3.0bn by the end of the decade."

Oh well.
This is the advantage of having stocks that pay big dividends.. It doesn't really matter if we get the odd bump in the road.
6% dividend yield.

All of the above so the price should go down...FTSE shares have become farcical...those mag 7 in US got sold off yesterday for being grossly over hyped last 12 months.....

I think that depends on the reading between the lines.I think BT has very clear upward trajectory when you look at scale of Openreach, tight cost control, and a vastly improving cash flow position to come.Vodafone has the higher cash flow, revenues and profits right now, but the Germany picture complicates matters a little given its key part of the strategy, and then the uncertainty of the Three merger in UK.There are reasons for optimism in both- I just think BTs position has more certainty.

Solid results - strong cost control the bedrock to improved EBITDA. Openreach build flying along now.Consumer base trends improving - bodes well for H2 and 2025.

News seems OK. No major surprises (good or bad) just steady as she goes - which I guess on balance the market sort of likes.
