02/7/2024 10:38 | "JO Hambro dials up investment in BT JO Hambro manager Mark Costar has built up his position in BT (BT) on the prospects for ‘monster&rsquo Costar added to the Citywire Elite Companies A-rated telecoms giant after it reported in-line results but ‘very significantly’ showed increased confidence in the potential for the rollout of its high-speed fibre and next-generation network. He said that this confidence had ‘been apparent in recent engagements with management but on which the market has been sceptical’ but it was ‘tangibly underpinned’ in the results with a cashflow upgrade. The shares moved 17% higher on the day but Costar said they are ‘still dramatically under-reflecting the significance of this development and how it will cascade very powerfully down to the equity’. ‘Indeed, in an environment where, at the margin, it sees less competition, not more, and with the impact of productivity enhancements still to flow through, the shares still trade on a monster free cashflow yield as the capex rolls off and the multi-year transformation starts to truly bear fruit,’ he said. The shares gained 1.2% on Monday and are up more than 13% year-to-date." | pj84 | |
