Nige, maybe its DT who are buying through a 3rd party at these low prices. If they collectively own 58% I don't think the 42% remaining long term holders with the majority north of 2.50, would sell on a low ball bid?

Just a thought, maybe Drahi is intending to purchase 30% and do his own deal with DT, say at 250p - 300p per share. DT purchase a further 18% taking their holding to 30%, so for the remaining 40% DT would be willing to pay their highest already paid price, if indeed it is 484p per share for the remaining 40% outstanding shares.

Would Drahi consider a takeover? l don't think so since it would be blocked by the government?

Almost certainly on behalf on someone else - possibly part of Drahi's holdings.

So Citigroup are reporting that they've gone from holding no shares, to now holding over 5.3% in BT. Are they acting on behalf of someone.

What's the chances that Drahi is acting on behalf of DT, Drahi buys shares, he denies that he's going to make a bid, this helps keep a lid on the share price. If DT were to increase their BT 12% holding the share price would react. That's just one possibility.

Ofcom gives green light to BT price cuts despite objections from rivals

Ofcom has decided to allow BT to push through price cuts in its networking division Openreach despite fierce pushback from competitors, who argued that the move would give the former monopoly an unfair competitive edge.

0924 GMT - BT Group is among the most mentioned companies across news items over the past four hours, according to Factiva data, after the U.K. regulator cleared Openreach's new pricing offer for full-fiber broadband.

The news sent BT shares up 1% making it one of just a handful of risers in the FTSE 100 index.

BT informed the regulator of its new pricing offer for full-fiber services--known as Equinox 2--last December as required under the regulatory rules.

The offer gives lower prices to retail providers that agree to use Openreach's full-fiber products for new orders rather than legacy copper products.

Ofcom said that based on evidence available it didn't consider the new pricing discounts to be anti-competitive. Dow Jones & Co. owns Factiva. (ian.walker@wsj.com.)

Surely Drahi is not just sitting on his BT stake...what chance his stake is lent out to longs/shorts or other purposes in the process earn commission...unlike retail buy shares sit on it hoping it just goes up...instead it goes the other way...hence punters not hanging around to infinity...

For every share buyer there has to be a share seller.

So who sold Monsieur Drahi 650m BT shares?

Good luck everyone, Sid.
