BT should remain a supplier of telecoms...it cannot compete against SKY on content (including football) never can and never will !

Well hasn't moved the share price so market doesn't seem too concerned.

Have to remember that BT is mainly a supplier of telecoms and that its own content channels are going to be limited to one or two channels. I hope they are not going to try to compete with the likes of Amazon/netflix etc.

BT is also going to supply the sky channels on its platform - this may give them more to offer. All long term conjecture of course

markth, that is just so without merit that i'm surprised to see it posted (except by monty).

The result of what you say if true would be that in every sector there'd only be a single player, the biggest wiping out all comtpetition.

Comcast has the money to acquire all of the rights to all of the best TV. Also their scale gives them purchasing power for equipment and services. Finally their colossal subscriber base gives them the opportunity to cross sell content and services to a much greater extent than BT. It would be like David v Goliath in the U.K. if they buy Sky. The bid might be referred though.

Given Monty's response I strongly suspect he himself does not know. If Monty thinks that Comcast will plough extra billions into Sky he's sadly mistaken.

Was thinking of buying, not so sure now if IC are correct."

HA HA HA HA!

Seriously Kulvinder, you should just be buying an index tracker - you will not get a better return from investing in individual stocks and might just loose all of your money.

So, was Friday just a one day wonder? Hands up who expected some follow through demand today especially as the Footsie and Wall St were up all day? If there had been I would have taken that as a sign that the tide has finally turned for BT and piled in as promised. However it looks like the share price will remain subdued until this triennial review is out of the way so while I want a substantial stake in case I miss the boat, I only increased my position by another £100 per point today taking it to around 50% of my planned total. Go BT!

Smurfy

I just asked one question which resulted in the hang ups and I hung up the next 2 calls. Yes, I've reached the conclusion its only share certificates that attract these calls. I thought it was wise to keep part of a portfolio, especially utilities, in certificate form for added security. But the nationalization threat is killing that too.

Thanks for the reply

Why spin them a yarn? Tell them you have not got any shares and just hang up. Do you have share certificates?
