LONDON (Alliance News) - Soft drinks maker Britvic PLC on Monday said it appointed Joanne Wilson to the board as chief financial officer.

Wilson is currently CFO of dunnhumby, a customer data science firm part of UK supermarket Tesco PLC. Prior to this, she held a variety of financial and commercial roles at Tesco both internationally and in the UK

Britvic on track to quench thirst for cutting costs


Soft drinks maker Britvic (BVIC) is on track despite the volatile environment, with profits underpinned by cost cutting, says Jefferies.

Analyst Edward Mundy retained his ‘hold’ recommendation and target price of 880p on the shares, which were flat at 877p yesterday.

The group reported first quarter sales were up 4.5% to £352 million, broadly consistent with 2018 trends.

‘We believe the company is on track to deliver full-year expectations,’ he said.

‘Full year 2019/20 profits are underpinned by cost cutting, which should provide some protection given a potentially volatile environment with Brexit as well as packaging regulation.’

He added that the stock was ‘not expensive’ at 2019 price/earnings of 14.1 times and a dividend yield of 3.5%.

Trading in the first quarter was in line with our expectations. Reported revenue increased 4.5% to £352.4m and organic constant currency revenue, excluding the soft drink levies, increased 1.5% to £337.3m.



Simon Litherland, Chief Executive, commented:

"We have delivered a solid start to the new financial year, with performance in line with our expectations. Given the resilience of our business, the strength of our portfolio and exciting marketing and innovation plans, we are confident of making further progress in 2019."

Just looked at the Annual Report. Looks well placed once the 3 year investment programme is completed in 2019. I'd like to see debt reduced at that point, along with dividend increases of course. The sugar tax hasn't really impacted too much, which shows what a good business this is. The sugar reduction programme is excellent news as well. Happy to hold.
