I see 6th Dec is the date for a pre-close update for BATS |
Thanksgiving day so US market closed so the FTSE will be directionless today |
IMB is ex-div today. |
imperial Tobacco been hit today, wonder why? |
I suppose might take a breather two steps forward one back. |
Looking good, Hopefully Santa rally starts earlier this year, before our ex div 21st Dec |
love win
thats what applause me is the people going into politics have no understanding of the real world of work as they have all just come out of some higher education system and think they have the capabilities to run this country.
you now know why we have the mess we have as they are not capable...blair,browm, boris, cameron etc.... |
The Dutch Party for freedom (in Dutch Short for PVV) has won the Dutch election by a large margin. Since most of their members of the parlement smoke I don’t expect any change on Dutch legislation with regards to smoking. Good news for investors. Have a great evening. |
Yep. Our politicians remain clueless about how the market works. Not surprising, given how few of them have real career experience outside of the Westminster bubble. Fewer still, any real commercial understanding. As to your earlier comment, I want us to remain above the 50 DMA for at least several days before I join you in your optimism regarding the trajectory of the share price - but certainly hope so! GLA. |
No tax on vape, tobacco tax as expected, gov will lose billions in revenue, the black market will boom, Portugal 30 g of tobacco half the price than the U.K, what's the price in France for roll your own 30 g tobacco? I bet cheaper than U.K. |
encouraging |
Come on bears you know you have to close, especially with another 57.72p ex div looming, 21st Dec. |
We live in hope. |
Could this be the break out we all been waiting for, got to close above psychological level of 2550p if we do, off to the races boys. |
Back to trading resistance at 2550p, need to be broken and held at close of business, then 2550p becomes support, off to the races leading up to ex dividend date 21st December another 57.72p in the isa bag. |
I see American petrol or gas (as they call it?) prices are at their lowest for two years, down from an average of $5 a gallon to $3.5 a gallon. All helps when it comes to buying consumer staples or discretionary items like tobacco in a cost of living crisis.Imagine paying just £2.80 for a galloon of petrol.......unreal |
I thought the Autumn statement was good for business, can't understand why market not higher. Still 60% to 70% of buys or sells in the market are by algorithms, perhaps they have not digested the statement yet, lol. |
Thank you for your answer.
With regard to the Indian government stake in ITC.. it should stay that way. If the governments owns a large part there will be less chance of anti smoking legislation. Hence, the Indian stake will perform better long term.
On another note, I don’t think it is a good idea for BAT to sell its stake in ITC since it is growing cash machine with a strong legislative stake holder, keeping the future profits safe. |
I suppose so, it's a fantastic investment, ITC. Let's see what Hunt has to say 12pm Autumn statement, may give market a boost. |
monty: ask yourself why you are invested in BATS. Then apply that same logic to BATS' holding in ITC. |
They should have a vote do we sell ITC and all get a special div or keep for the dividend Bats receive. |
The only UK based tobacco companies are BAT and Imperial stocks right? |
