01/5/2007 09:54 | AGM statement should be bullish ... would be nice to announce some contracts or at least allude to being close to signing up customers ... | muttleyrules
26/4/2007 10:20 | Davidosh ... please let us know what you learnt ... Hopefullty we'll all be smoking Davidoffs in months to come ... | muttleyrules
25/4/2007 23:39 | Hopefully there will be some action around or just after the AGM, although on the personnel front I sense that they would be well advised to give some firm expression of beefing-up the team asap.If this happens then we may well enjoy a closer examination of near term sales prospects...personal | cyberian
25/4/2007 17:49 | I will be going to the AGM.....Anyone else? | davidosh
25/4/2007 11:06 | Brian Collins was the owner / a director / something-or-other of a company they bought so is not representative per se. And the options he has are 50k @ 25p exercisable between 2009 and 2011. But it is a demonstration that money can be made available for Salary and options if deemed necessary. | cocl2
25/4/2007 08:24 | Anyone able to go to the AGM? Do they have nice sandwiches? | muttleyrules
25/4/2007 08:23 | Interesting debate ... share options are no doubt a decent way of aligning a small company's employees ... this ensures that everybody is pointing in the same direction ... probably nicer working environment in Cambridge than London - that's worth a few k on the salary! Bare in mind too that Dr B owns 35% or so of the equity so he is not poor and does not need a big salary ... with the 1p dividend he also has pre-tax income of 91k in divis alone ... Let's hope the AGM brings some contracts. | muttleyrules
25/4/2007 08:09 | £82,735 in salary, £4,674 in pension contributions, and a dividend cheque for £90,687.28. Brian Collins might be a better example of what Brady could pay a newbie. £100k and £30k of options. | yachtmonster
25/4/2007 07:29 | phewww... good question. i had the impression they were planning to extend the international sales and service capabilities force as well as deepen the management team. Widening the sales force/providing local service capabilities probably means opening an office (or 2 outside the UK), leading to say 2-5 hires at the minimum, will not all happen overnight of course. Deepening mgmt has led so far to new FD, and mr rowe steps down so that is netting eachother off. Say a further 2 hires to strenghten the mgmt team already means FTE expansion of 10%. Nothing worrying of course and i would say this is what you expect the company to do in this phase of development. The point i tried to make is how the company is trying to lure highly motivated employees when the the top man is earning 80k. But you are right, i should ask the doc myself next week. | magnerita
24/4/2007 19:13 | It just goes to show that trying to be quick often doesn't help and I should have carried on reading for a few more centimetres. If you take the £38.5k for the non-exec Directors off the total you still get £2,047,006 for the staff which in turn gives an average of about £46.5k. If the management are thinking of extending the number of employees then unless they go potty, they'll be able to absorb it with a modest turnover increase. I suppose it is a balance between stagnation and over extension; with what I hope is sustainable growth somewhere in the middle. I'd still be interested in what Magnerita thought the staff expansion in 2007/8 might be. | cocl2
24/4/2007 17:16 | The average for the year was stated to be 49 as follows commercial 1 customer support 16 development 24 finance & admin 3 directors 5 (just below the wages and salaries total) Page 10 - Remuneration report makes interesting reading in terms of level of pay etc | yachtmonster
24/4/2007 16:51 | Well on page numbered 20 (but actually 23 on the PDF) of the "Consolidated Financial Statements For the Year ended 31st December 2006" it says that Wages and salaries came to £2.085M. It doesn't say how many staff that is spread over but it doesn't suggest subsistence wages to me. How many staff do you think they need? Failing that, you could always turn up at the AGM next week and ask Dr Brady. | cocl2
24/4/2007 15:01 | i like the company a lot, but i wonder how easy it will be for Brady to hire lots of qualified employees if the CEO earns 82k a year.... Hopefully, Brady attracts lots of ideologic software programmers and consultants who can be incentified in a different way than just through a high base salary... m | magnerita
19/4/2007 11:49 | Slightly interesting move-up this morning after going XD (worth 1p), and sense something related to the Annual Report as mentioned above that the company is planning to make some radical Board changes/appointments fairly soon. The company should be capable of growing Internationally at a faster pace than in evidence lately. However, it needs the right combination of new/experienced talent to compliment existing strength in product and financial integrity, which is good. Maybe something will be come out at the AGM on May 3rd, or some further hints of imminent changes. | cyberian
18/4/2007 15:55 | Getting back to an interesting level ... nearly 20% off the peak | muttleyrules
16/4/2007 13:32 | "Recruiting new management with experience in businesses substantialy larger than Brady's will allow room for the Group to grow in scale rather more quickly than with the current structure and we intend to work towards appointing additional senior directors to this end." AGM set for 3rd May. | yachtmonster
16/4/2007 11:07 | Have just taken a look through the Annual Report (available on-line) and it appears from Chairman's report that they are re-vamping their board/senior management. Get the feeling that they see greater opportunities internationally and need to address skills needed to push ahead more aggressively. Maybe we will get some new contracts at time of AGM which is I believe is about 3rd May... | cyberian
16/4/2007 10:22 | Patience is a virtue but I'd like to see a few more contracts rolling through the door ... I think BRY are working on increasingly bigger contracts, with bigger clients ... this makes sense given the man hours reuqired for any contract (small or larger) ... also we have yet to see the benefits of new hires (sales, the new non-exec and a new FD)... the next sign ups could boost 2007 numbers ... but after June more likely to be 2008 numbers ... either way remains a solid story. The competitive environment appears pretty unchanged and Brady could an attractive bolt-on for a larger player. | muttleyrules
03/4/2007 09:08 | New FD recruited ... looks to have decent relevant experience in the software, supply chain industry ... sure he has done his own due diligence on BRY ... in moving to small company like BRY he clearly sees upside potential as well. Shares probably being held back a bit by tax year end related sales. Roll on next months dividend and some more contracts while their at it. | muttleyrules
28/3/2007 19:50 | ... just don't sell before the penny dividend in the middle of next month. I expect to see more movement nearer that time but I don't know if it will be upwards, downwards or just a haphazard mixture of the two. | cocl2
28/3/2007 19:04 | Agree...may buy a few more. | cyberian
28/3/2007 10:44 | With the confidence expressed in the 2006 results the pipeline should start converting into sign ups soon ... that being the case we should see 2007 numbers moving up if they can be integrated before year end and 2008 numbers firming up. Recruitment of a new FD would be a boost too. Shares have consolidated around this level but I see another leg up on contract wins. | muttleyrules
21/3/2007 10:20 | COCI2 ... your business wishes are entirely sensible ... i think we are getting quite close to the business covering its costs from service / maintenance work and this is why the maiden dividend has been announced ... | muttleyrules
20/3/2007 18:29 | I doubt that Dr Brady will be content to sit and count his money. It would have to be something which would interesting him. Either with a position in whatever the merged / take over company might be or possibly in some different venture that takes his fancy at the time. I don't know for sure, but being at the helm of your eponymous company for so many years might make him reluctant to part with it. But in any event, it depends on a specific offer and whether 50% + 1 share want to accept it. I'd still like there to be more swing to covering costs with maintenance / bespoke work rather than new sales / upgrades as in my opinion, this gives a smoother ride for the company to avoid peaks and troughs of capricious sales. But my idle business wishes aside, I see this as a good set of results and there should have been cigars and / or champagne in Cambridge today. | cocl2
20/3/2007 14:26 | ...but it can't sing and dance, and it can't ... | yachtmonster |
