Its pretty much a standard for corp brokers to hold a whack anyway. you can be sure, the fees far exceed any potential losses, along with the hedge instruments

Auson, ive seen far more held for lower prices

Il ask you a question

Do you think they just sit on those holdings and do no other actions for years?

Lets look at a simple example

Big shorting houses...who are the clients? lol

Institutional Invest,

Do you think BlackRock and Goldman Sachs would be holding millions of BP shares if they thought it was going to 300 ?

Here is my take on BP rel to crude for a few future quarters

BP slow to rise on crude bounces, and falls hard on each crude drop

Auson i wasnt saying here was 8% short. Was just making the point, 2 very different markets always exist

Sometimes the public one aligns. More often, it does not

I think market agrees with me on something very key

"Market has now dissociated commodity value from outlook" Recently

Crude prices wont matter much. Already know with a labour gov coming in, prime target for old money and if not, new etc

I don't think there is 8% short, I can only see around 7m shares short.

Obviously shorttracker shows a big Zero which is somewhat telling

So, whats the root of it?

Ive seen stocks on ftse 100 show 0-1%. I worked it out on some at over 5%. Cant evidence that as its not on tracker. But they duly collpased

They could be 10% short here for all we know really

Auson, i gave up paying for feeds like Ortex etc

I learned to gauge all that without the feeds.

Nothing to do with volume per se. You only see big volume 'on event' - not prior. Prior is where its at

And you see institutional selling and that being large volumes will drive the price and you see a lot of instutional selling and think that the price is going way down

......
No

it depends on the structure of the selling. It can simply be an adjustment at mark, or a bit of capital to go elsewhere etc for better value, and no reflection on the instrument at all

it has many forms

I never ignore it. The only time they get it wrong aggregate, is a shock event (one they never saw coming)

Even when brexit was a media nailed on vote for stay, they were dumping gbp in all forms for 2 weeks prior. They had a better grasp on it obviously, or at least saw it as a closer run thing than foreseen

i look where they do the real deals. Anything public is, well, for public consumption. Rarely a true narrative
