17/6/2022 11:13 | A windfall tax is just additional corporation tax and shouldn't be industry specific. It's theft - plain and simple. It should be across the board or not at all. | janhar
17/6/2022 10:49 | Spawny100 Post 98147 Wont just be O&G profits governments will be eyeing - especially if a labour Govt gets in. Think housing stock profits!! Many people sitting on millions of £££'s (unrealisable of course until house is sold) but when has that stopped governments! Strangely Pharma profits seem exempt! | geckotheglorious
17/6/2022 09:58 | Interest rates, fear of recession and reduced demand, further windfall taxes - although the tightening supply and underinvestment should mean prices will continue to rise. | janhar
17/6/2022 09:46 | Rich and am that's my concern too. Cash strapped governments reeling from the stupidity of lockdowns will be greedily eyeing ballooning O&G profits to tap them and all in the name of their ludicrous net zero/Great Reset nonsense. | spawny100
17/6/2022 09:36 | I'm not to clued up on bp so forgive me for my lack of understanding but why has the share price crashed down in the last few days coz oil and energy is doing well. Is it just the economic situation at the moment and fear of a recession? | ben gibbons
17/6/2022 08:59 | I loosely agree with everything but the oil price. It’s going to go higher due to current situation, issue maybe how governments decide to screw the majors out of more of there profits to pay for their misgivings. Looney is worse than a man down, might as well be a politician instead of a CEO. | richvandam
17/6/2022 08:52 | Porsche194517 Jun '22 - 08:50 - 98143 of 98143 0 1 0 @hellscream. Becos oil is on the way down, in 2008 it went from 150 to 54 in 12 months on recession and that is exactly what is happening to the world again, full on hardcore recession with high unemployment, tanking property ( see numbers from US yesterday, shocking ) but this time, rising rates, parabolic inflation ( and mad high taxes in Europe and UK ) to juice the effect. BP seems to have a particular set of problems, CEO is a deadbeat, the shares never even got back to a fiver. Also, US cant keep pumping arms into Ukraine prolonging yet another war that doesnt concern them, nobody really gives a fxck about Ukraine they want inflation down, that message likely to be getting through. NAILED IT! | boxerdogz
