Bought some of these in the dip yesterday as I don't believe the rocketing oil and gas price has been reflected in the still very lowish share price here yet. Even if the share price stays about the same the ~6% Divi sure beats 0.3% in the bank for tied up savings and that's if BP stick to the full 50% dividend cut after what are likely to be earnings well ahead of expectations to be announced in the interims on 3 August, just a month away now. They may wish to keep the Divi the same to enable further investment in a green low carbon agenda which would be fine with me as you can't complain with ~6% yield anyway.

BP did not issue the Trading Conditions Update this week (should have been yesterday)...
Perhaps they have that much $$ to count they are a tad busy.... Still I did find the weekly update useful to work out an element of profit for the qtr...

Ok, I thought they would do an update like they did on the 6th April. Shame if we have to wait to the results.

Look at WTI go, is that because it is a long weekend in the US?

I wonder if there has been a soft signal from OPEC+ that it will continue to proceed cautiously, or a demonstration that demand is growing. Or is this just weak-kneed investors flip-flopping.

A few years back when base rates were 5 to 6% they could could use them as a brake or accelerator depending on how the economy was doing. Nowadays at 0.01% can't do anything.

Market maybe down because they have wind of a looney plan in the pipeline that will not be liked.
As you mention Hellscream with the oil at this price and talk of gas increasing fast from here BP should be flying...just like the aircraft and other transport it is fuelling around the world (which never stopped)
Next stop are the results which should be exceptional, if not they will have some clever explaining to do.

Gas prices continuing to climb around the world, let's hope OPEC+ continue to manage things reasonably. The rise in Indian covid cases is a worry but does not necessarily take the steam out of demand in developed countries. Inflation ditto.

the torys are looking at stealing pension funds again, redirecting it into more housing projects... this the reason shares at still trading at the same price 25 years ago? this lot are worse than the green party.
