Imagine the outcome of supply construction versus an insatiable demand for oil as countries emerge from lockdowns. The whole world will want a holiday for a start. Product - boom.

shorting the stock at a 20 year low with oil prices rising, for a target gain of 15p per share doesn't sound like a high probability, long term profitable trading strategy to me. Good luck to you

Definitely not breakaway, with all lockdowns coming in, opec supposed to cut production levels. Market excited opec didn't increased production, as per December plan. Wait till that dust settles.

Good day optomistic

If not breakaway then continuation/runaway would do as well. It will likely require a slug of volume to move it up from 287 and hold it up. Maybe the US will provide buyers.

Good day Irish

The share price dealt with possible resistance at 277 with a gap over it and is now being resisted at the 10th Dec high. If it can break through and hold the next resistance zone is at 312.

You need to consider what type of gap today's is.

Oil climbs five percent on Saudi voluntary oil production cut
Saudi Arabia will make additional, voluntary oil production cuts of one million barrels per day in February and March as part of a wider OPEC+ deal to hold output steady.

Demand destruction?

Na - What the market realizes is even if demand drops short term due to lockdowns OPEC has the Oil markets back and likely to support prices.

That was the game changer from yesterdays reports from OPEC. The Fund managers picking up stock as a result.

Read the OPEC reports the detail is all there, do your research properly and have your own conviction.

Don't make sudden reactions / trades due to prices.
