Looking at what Firework can do it's not in any way a competitor for BIRD and the price wouldn't come near what BIRD will command.

"Google has held discussions about acquiring a video-sharing startup that could help it counter fast-growing TikTok, people familiar with the matter say.

Google is weighing a deal for Firework, a free smartphone app for users to share 30-second homemade videos with strangers. Like TikTok, Firework tries to surface viral, edited videos from unlikely sources, though Firework aims for an older audience than its better-known competitor out of China that is big among teens.

Firework, based in Redwood City, Calif., was valued at more than $100 million in a fundraising round earlier this year, and any acquisition would come at a premium. Google and Firework haven’t yet discussed pricing, the people say. The discussions may not lead to a deal and also include conversations about other ways to partner."

Well... Devastating to see bird fail again. One might assume given blackbird's close relationship with Google and excellent clipping capability Google might consider buying it but no. Firework is being bought instead, argghh.

"The report summarises that ‘tier 1 media enterprises’, such as Sky and ESPN – which, on the whole, currently guarantee quality of service (QoS) by utilising traditional delivery methods, including satellite and fibre to get content to subscribers, and using OB vans – will increasingly move to more agile, cost-effective methods of production and delivery.

The ‘Delivering Cost-Effective Premium Live QoS at Scale’ report says: “As the fragmentation of media consumption between traditional (TV) and non-linear (OTT, mobile) continues to rise, the traditional delivery routes, and on-site live production workflows, are gradually becoming costlier and inefficient.”

The report suggests operating cost remains the primary factor in companies deciding to move to IP, but further benefits include lowering set-up lead-time. Using remote production to reduce costs were the leading business priorities for more than two-thirds (71%) of respondents.

The survey also addresses attitudes towards cloud-based workflows. On-premises deployment is predicted to drop by more than half, from 69% in 2018 to 33% in 2023.

Meanwhile, it predicts a surge in uptake of cloud offerings, from 10% to 34% over the same period. The report adds that broadcast TV and video providers, and digital service providers are the slowest cloud adopters, with more than half (51% and 57%, respectively) of enterprises in these segments remaining on premises until after 2023."

Just noticed an RNS about Captevate being made available on mobile to edit and upload.

I assume that and EVA are being repackaged and offered to the big boys.

Esp. now Snappy TV is done.

Will we replace Snappy........later this year?

Developing the technology behind eva and Captevate benefits our ip

The promotion of eva will have been a waste of money but it was always a punt as we all should have known.

If we are going to have success with our Player with major media companies and consumers of the media then dusting off eva could really payoff!

Google are looking for a tiktok video app to acquire according to news sources

I am sure the tech has been rolled into other potential offerings.

Remember the deal with Sky for a few of their shows for audience participation?

Nothing else was heard of that.

I assumed that was strategic.
