U.K.-based Bioquell, a manufacturer of bio-decontamination equipment
for the U.S. Department of Defense, continues to invest in its Horsham
facility and is considering further expansion that would enhance its
existing sales and service offering.
"Currently, more than 1,100 British-owned facilities, employing more
than 32,000 people, are located in Pennsylvania," Governor Rendell said.
"Almost 25 percent of all foreign-owned firms in Pennsylvania have their
headquarters in the U.K. I strongly believe there is tremendous potential
for further increases in trade and investment relations between the U.K.
and Pennsylvania."

Hospital Superbug Serial Killer
17 May 2007 11:52

Each year, millions of hospital patients around the world will acquire a clinically significant Hospital Associated Infection (HAI), and as a result, thousands will die. To help tackle this problem, UK manufacturer BIOQUELL has launched the BIOQUELL Z, a revolutionary new concept in room bio-decontamination. Designed for safe and effective pathogen kill, the BIOQUELL Z will quickly bio-decontaminate surfaces within hospital rooms with the minimum amount of effort.

Combining BIOQUELL's unique, Hydrogen Peroxide Vapour (HPV) -based Clarus™ technology with extensive experience of decontaminating over 3,500 hospital rooms worldwide, this ground-breaking HPV generator is ideally suited for both emergency and routine duties within the hospital environment.

Typical applications include:

The rapid deployment of a BIOQUELL Z to decontaminate an isolation ward following the discharge of an infected patient
Overnight disinfection of an operating theatre, or dealing with a spillage in a level three containment area of a pathology lab
Certainly, routine bio-decontamination has proven to be highly effective in reducing pathogen levels and the risk and spread of harmful micro-organisms, including MRSA, Clostridium difficile (C.diff) and Acinetobacter.

The BIOQUELL Z is designed for ease of use, allowing hospital staff to decontaminate rooms with the minimum amount of effort and training. Wheeled into a room, the control lectern is detached from the generator and sited outside, for safe, parametric control. Once the room has been vacated and sealed, the high-velocity nozzles effectively distribute a HPV evenly throughout the room. When effective kill has been achieved the room is purged of vapour using the on-board catalyst. As HPV decomposes to oxygen and water vapour, the system is environmentally friendly and there are no harmful residues.

In as little as 90 minutes, all surfaces within the room will be decontaminated and ready to be put back into service. The whole process is residue-free and no wiping down or extra cleansing is required after use. Due to the excellent material compatibility of HPV, all equipment (including sensitive electronics and consumables) can be left in the room ensuring that decontamination has been achieved throughout.

Whilst normal cleaning procedures and hand hygiene remain vitally important, the ability to provide a microbiological clean environment rapidly, safely and easily is a valuable weapon to have in any infection control department's armoury.

Quite a bit of the individually smaller trades goes through plusmarkets these days...

Steady buying there from what I can see...which no doubt partially explains the current up trend...

Certainly seems to be attracting increased interst...

Initial 180p plus looks right but who am I to argue against £5 in a couple of years!

Very satisfactory early progress...and Directors added as I had thought...

180p plus initial target looks sensible to me...we have been there at least twice before and the business now has hugely greater potential...dyor and check your spreadsheets!

Article in the Telegraph today - Note the final paragraph which shows another little-known aspect of this Company.

They have spent over six years developing and refining their peroxide device and system for treating venous leg ulcers (generally recognised to be one of the hardest chronic wounds to heal) and other chronic wounds including diabetic foot ulcers, pressure sores and surgical wounds.

Already at least two series of clinical trials, that I am aware of, have been carried out successfully at the Wound Healing Research Unit, University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff, but the Authorities require further proof to fit in with their new Regulations.

Validation of the system, to my mind, is shown in the fact that they are continuing and going along with the Authority's requirements.

The US National Institute of Nursing Research has published data that suggest that chronic wounds affect up to 4.5 million Americans at a cost of US$ 9.5 billion a year.
