28/7/2005 14:31 | should not have any effect, as you have answered your own question. Eirx Pharma not quoted so presumably will remain unchanged on blanace sheet :-) | hollyhock
28/7/2005 08:13 | Assume the NAV at end of June will be announced any day now, be interesting to see what that's looking like given EIRX Ltd poor price performance where Bllm own a tiny no of shares directly but value and own much of non-listed EIRX Pharma and which in turn is a big owner of EIRX Ltd... | scrapheap

27/7/2005 08:54 | Hollyhock, well spotted. Is this typical Billam 'spin' or what to present this as a great return! Disgraceful if you ask me. Look back at their results in Feb and you'll see the valuation and the cost of £480,000 they disclosed.... Makes these comments all the more ballsy: Angus Forrest, CEO of Billam said "This transaction is a further indication of the value perceived by third parties in Billam's investee companies. Also it demonstrates that a significant uplift in value can be generated over relatively a short period by a well run company exploiting technology. | scrapheap
26/7/2005 14:01 | sorry to but a dampener on things, but if you remember, the holding in Arakis comes from the original Syngenix investment, i.e. Arakis acquiring Syngenix. I can't remember the exact figure that appears in the accounts but I know it was about £500,000. This investment was then written down to the current £164,000. But congratulations to the Billam management team... at least this time they have not lost any shareholders money. Interesting to see if they include the £337,000 (i.e. £500k-£164k) notional profit in their bonus calculations. | hollyhock

01/7/2005 00:55 | Are you selling a school? We are keen to meet with proprietors and head teachers who are interested in joining the Montague Place family. We are interested in all schools with over 100 pupils and we are able to offer extremely favourable terms for those which meet our exacting standards. We are particularly interested in working with owners who want to unlock value from their investment and also retain an interest in their school's continuing success. We appreciate that your school is likely to represent much of your lifetime's work and it is crucial that you receive a fair price for it. To this end, we recommend all potential sellers get a valuation from an independent valuation firm that specialises in schools. There are a small number of such firms in the UK and, whilst we must maintain our independence, we are happy to outline some options on request. At Montague Place, we are committed to paying a full and fair price for the schools which meet our requirements, and we can usually give an indication of the price we would pay within 1-2 weeks of receiving your accounts. Finally, confidentiality is the keyword when selling a school and we normally insist on signing a confidentiality agreement before visiting a school. And we are extremely discrete when we do visit. For a preliminary, confidential discussion, or to arrange a site visit, please contact us at the address below.
