His most pertinent comment was regarding his anger over people losing their pensions due to lack of understanding of the industry. That would apply to lots of other industries not just this one.

"Industry standard is Market Cap should be 1:1 with revenue."

and here is a bit more...... but don't shoot the messenger!

Anyone that thinks FM or Grid are providing revenue to Bidstack needs to sell now because you don't fully understand the product. Game developers are supply, advertisers are demand. Supply provides £0 revenue - just the inventory where Bidstack's advertisers can place their adverts.

It's quite a long conversation GN but will copy some of it:

1. it's a demand led marketplace, not supply. Obviously you need the odd marquee publisher but they've already got that (as well as integrations with DSPs, which are the pipes). Stop getting excited by supply news - the only thing that matters is how much demand is coming through those pipes (i.e. advertisers and revenue!)

2. Signing trading deals with agencies is not the same as getting advertisers on board. A trading deal gives a slight financial incentive for an agency to spend (i.e BIDS gives up margin!) but that is all. Nothing to get excited about (also has anyone looked up DAN's recent financial results??)

3. Ad network revenue, especially for a niche format, is for all intents and purposes campaign based. No recurring revenue. You can still build a great business out of it but don't give the revenue a SaaS/Tech multiple. Industry standard is Market Cap should be 1:1 with revenue. Compare BIDS multiple with RUBI - exactly the same model, very different multiple.

Ultimately, they should never have gone public pre-revenue. VCs are set up to stomach high risk, high reward investments. Seeing people lose their pensions because they don't have the ability (as in, do you have a team of analysts?) or time to understand this industry makes me incredibly angry.
