How much of the slide is 'catastrophe' and how much is commodity price driven? Just a rookie question.

How much of the fine can Samarco pay itself? (How hard can BLT and Vale squeeze Samarco).

What about the Brazilian inspectors what about they're liability?

Any reasonable answers considered.

A Fed rate rise will exacerbate the problems currently transfixing the mining industry i.e.sharply weakening emerging market growth against a backcloth of a problematic Europe. The conundrum is that banks are now so weighed down by regulation that the appetite for risk has evaporated and this has contributed to a slowing of global growth.Forget the USA luxuriating in its shale gas finds, the rest of the world is in a hard place. The share price of BLT etc reflect that fact.Mining companies will slash dividends in this climate so historic yields do not restrict downside. All that said, the shares have slid exponentially and we must be fast discounting real catastrophe. On a five year view etc isn't this a great buying opportunity?Perhaps but I suspect the recovery might be as insipid as the recovery in banking stocks.

BLT has fallen from £20 to £7.60 in about 18 months.
that is 62% for a huge company.
and you talk of capitulation to come?

These environmental disasters need to stop, the only way is to close up their operations in these types of Countries, always the innocent poor people that suffer in these Countries.

Disgraceful behaviour from these multi nationals.

considering today's RNS will present the best picture from BLT's perspective, that is absolutely shocking.

The key could be around FED interest rate decision day

Brazil mess is a complete disaster, another multi national in trouble, meanwhile lots of poor people dead and thousands lost their homes, the CEO should resign over this and the share price performance.
