06/2/2009 23:59 | The west is finished - Jim Rogers Created: 17 November 2008 Updated: 1 December 2008 Written by: Jonathan Eley After an intercontinental flight, a conference speech and a hectic book signing session, Jim Rogers looks a tired guy when I meet him. But the American investment guru and co-founder (with George Soros) of the Quantum fund still talks a good talk, with the infectious confidence of a man who has been right more often than wrong. | traderabc

06/2/2009 23:14 | Jim Rogers: Top Investor and Co-Founder of Quantum Fund (December 04, 2008) Q. How did you first get interested in trading? A. Investing. I stumbled onto Wall Street. In 1964, I had just finished college and was going on to graduate school. I got a summer job through a guy I met, who happened to work for a Wall Street firm. I didn't know anything about Wall Street at the time. I didn't know the difference between stocks and bonds. I didn't even know that there was a difference between stocks and bonds. All I knew about Wall Street was that it was somewhere in New York and something unpleasant had happened there in 1929. After that summer, I went to Oxford during 1964-1966. Whereas all the Americans I knew at Oxford were interested in politics, I was more interested in reading the Financial Times. More on Rogers can be found here. | traderabc

02/2/2009 18:59 | "Up On The Roof" The Drifter's When this old world starts getting me down And people are just too much for me to face I climb way up to the top of the stairs And all my cares just drift right into space On the roof, it's peaceful as can be And there the world below can't bother me Let me tell you now When I come home feelin' tired and beat I go up where the air is fresh and sweet (up on the roof) I get away from the hustling crowd And all that rat-race noise down in the street (up on the roof) On the roof, the only place I know Where you just have to wish to make it so Let's go up on the roof (up on the roof) brief instrumental-chiefly strings At night the stars put on a show for free And, darling, you can share it all with me I keep a-tellin' you Right smack dab in the middle of town I've found a paradise that's trouble proof (up on the roof) And if this world starts getting you down There's room enough for two Up on the roof (up on the roof) Up on the roo-oo-oof (up on the roof) Oh, come on, baby (up on the roof) Oh, come on, honey (up on the roof) [Fade] | westcoastrich
