No I just mean it looks rather like he's on the wrong side of the recent astute trade - like following Panmure Gordon's broking advice on BARC, CIU, TW. and many others!

Off to cut rather a lot of steep grass...

So Edmundj you think Henry moves the FT100 and Government bonds after a 5 min interview on Bloomberg?

I'd agree with you regarding brokers, but retired multi millionare hedge fund managers are not the same. Rogers does not need to 'talk his book', and even if he did, he cannot move major commodity or stock indexes to any significant extent. An individual stock can be moved by these people but and international index? Get real.

Yes Hughie said sell all your equities and go into government bonds, a few weeks ago, good timing - lol! Maybe he was moving back into equities?

Same as brokers' advice, just on a more outrageous scale!

monteyhedge,

Like George Soros, his old hedge fund mate, who was predicting financial disaster the other day?

The reporters should really get these guys to present their (regulator-transparent) long/short books before rushing out headlines.

Sure thing monty, short commodities, short precious metals, short China.
Go long the financials, $ + £, retailers and housing.

Then come back to this board next year and tell us what it feels to be bankrupt!

Though I suspect the reason you are here sniping away is because that has already happened.

I know balt, I find it hard to believe. We have Mrs Obama not only planting organic food in the Whitehouse gardens, but also encouraging others to grow their own gardens. Then we have a congress just about to outlaw organic growing of ANY kind.

I find it staggering that this is happening, only in America.

That said these issues are coming to Europe, just watch.

Williams is a bit of a sycophant in this, however if what he is saying is true, then the whole world is threatened by these corporate pirates.

Think i can see the problem with agriculture in UK - trader abc has just said it - middlemen.Problem is when farmers have tried to organise themselves into cooperatives in the past you always get a few wiseguys who "sell round the back" for a few quid more. This has always led to the break up of the cooperative. However i think if they could organise themselves in their local areas ie farmers markets then they would be away to the races.

"The problem with agriculture is the there is oversupply and the people that need what I produce cannot afford to buy it !"

"the only business where a product is produced on an ongoing basis at a loss to the producer."

049balt, are there any alternative solutions for you?
Like going organic, or raising another type of meat? Perhaps selling direct to public and cutting out the middlemen (farmers market)

I had to pay £1 the other day for a broccoli, 1 quid!! The 'middlemen' seem to be your problem judging from the prices in the supermarkets...

As you are involved in raising beef perhaps read 'Fast food Nation' by Eric Schlosser Even though it is a little dated (2001) it's a real eye opener with regard to corporate power over food producers/ processors

I also have some misgivings about Alex Jones, however much of what he says is self evidently true, this is a little off topic but worth listening to.

Alex Jones interviewed by RT: U.S. is a puppet of private bankers

This is the film he has recently done about Obama, much better to downdload it from a file sharing site, but if you can't, watch this.

This is also good, I have misgivings about Glen Beck, (he slagged off Ron Paul) but it does appear that he is 'learning' from his mistakes of the past.
