01/12/2002 18:25 | Croc & all - I'm not getting any chance to trade at the moment - & the contract I'm doing looks like turning into a long one - as usual! I do lurk & look forward to getting back to trading soemtime - but it's going to be next year. How is Bullshare? I realy miss his posts. | sue42
01/12/2002 18:18 | Paul, Agrees about THUS. Long term hold for me. Two possible downsides (IMHO) (1) Is it big enough to survive and compete long term. (2) No debts now but would more funds needed in the future for expansion, related to (1). (3) Any predatory interests like to see the price and the company being stressed a bit more before paying pennies for the company and its assets. IMHO, THUS is a long term winner. Would be interested to see chart analysis ... | axdpc
01/12/2002 17:59 | Ashley (above) has done some chartist analisis on thus, he is more experianced than I with charts but he thinks there is the potential for a rise. Also there is a article in Times on line about thus, it seems the company is depressed about its share price and there are muttering about it being taken private at some point if things do not improve, apparently there is quite a bit of venture finance around that may be interested. However an analisist at a broker concluded thus would never (in its current form) rise again to the £8 previous high, the main reason being its (the companies) size (lack of it). The right way to play this is IMHO either leave it completly as not suitable for CFD daytrading, and/or buy a few real shares within your self select ISA's or PePs. However I will be monitoring it via level 2 for the next few weeks and may make a play if the level 2 evidence (in my limited experiance) is overwelming. With TIGHT STOP LOSSES. | paulismyname
01/12/2002 17:58 | croc, thanks for the data and thoughts. I am starting to take more notice of those result days - thinking it would be prudent to avoid taking any postions on companies reporting. | axdpc

01/12/2002 16:50 | Thanks again Croc for all you do. I was interested in your comments re PSN in the auction on Friday night being bid up to 414p. Do you think there is something in it? At the end of October I was pleased to report that after a month my account was up by 12%. Well, that did it, couple of big losses after that but managed to make it back and now up 14% after 2 months, but I've done about half as many trades in November as in October. Again, if I was doing it full time I'd be disappointed with that, but nice to know it's going in the right direction. Will be interested in Tuesday's SCTN results after JDW's poor showing. SCTN gave a reasonably positive trading update a few weeks ago (just like JDW!) so hoping for a bit of a bounce. ScS upholstery (epic SUY) also interesting for Tuesday - worth watching DFS at the same time for a sympathetic movement. (edit - note that dfs have agm on the same day). However SUY is FTSE fledgling, cap £80m, DFS cap £425m. | seymour clearly

18/11/2002 16:34 | I have decided to buy these they are cheap for the long term. I know the department stores in Southport and Bolton. Both well patronised the one in Southport is on Lord St [Champs Else`eys in Paris copied from Lord St design] Lord St is fine shopping street the store was established in 1828 it is called Broadbent and Boothroyd. The one in Bolton is called Whittakers and is one of the classier shops in Bolton. I have been going shopping and eating there for over 50 years.. The company is valued at £19 with 12 stores. I dont know which the flag ship is ,who knows. | washbrook

11/6/2002 00:55 | Thats me done for now, off for 9 holes of golf. Finding it more and more profitable just to trade for a couple of hours 1st thing, check the RNS, pick a couple of suspects, trade the pants off them long and short, glue yourself to a few screens, take profits then pack up! | dailos
11/6/2002 00:52 | any thoughts on the US market direction today? | rdj20
11/6/2002 00:50 | jeffmack dont follow this one at all, just a bit of bottom fishing near the £3 mark really, would look for a quick 5%-10% and out. Made some money, short and long during Potters Bar, have a feeling i'm afraid that the railways are still in a mess and another crash waiting to happen. | dailos
11/6/2002 00:43 | dailos Posted this yesterday jeffmack - 09 Jun'02 - 22:02 - 26 of 141 edit I'm expecting a good bounce on Jarvis this week. Share was over £5 prior to Potters Bar crash, now £3.165. Results are due this week with pre tax profits expected to be £47m (£30m 2001). Do you have a target? Still seems weak, I will probably buy at about £3. | jeffmack

11/6/2002 00:32 | Morning balerno, just been checking the charts and it looks like it has to stay above 1940 as a support level. I have seen someone else post a support of 1950 (I think) and so it is probably between those two figures. Was short from 1955 but closed out the position at 1952 when it began to look positive and I was off to a meeting. Wished I had kept the short! If it falls below 1940 I shall short again as a hedge against my holdings. Are you going long at the moment? TT | time traveller |
