The fact these are quoted in GBP albeit they post earnings in $USD and have precious little to do with the UK is a bit of an issue for foreign/overseas investors.
The share price usually does not adjust to mirror any GBP weakness and with Brexit still in disarray its an unwelcome consideration.

I am negative on GBP for the foreseeable future purely because of the unknowns.
Slightly OT but anyone else in the same situation ?

Well no guidance from Shore Capital or any mention of analysts meeting later or any kind of information whatsoever. Another example of complete mishandling by the company brokers.
Its unlikely that we will see any effects from the various tie ups and partnerships the company has announced, its too early days for that to show up in the bottom line. What we hopefully will see is the company holding the line with some positive forward looking comment.
Last results the company was hindered by poor performance of the medical division in the chinese market. Everything else just about broke even, it was far from a stellar performance but the brakes were clearly engaged and moderate growth predicted.
Shore capital announced that the company was expected to grow about 1% to 2% this period but their figures simply did not add up so we have absolutely zero idea on expectations for this last period.

Added: Heres the contact published for Shore who ought to be giving some sort of guidance along the way and have some sort of expectation.Shore Capital

Not an authority here, but buy volume has increased since early June, Sp almost at an all time high, trading update sounded upbeat, good results could be baked into the Sp already or then again not. Think there's more upside I'll still be holding on Tue morning.

As mentioned in an earlier post there is a real push to get 5G out of the starting blocks. There is a resultant sense of urgency for providers to get with the plan so to speak. This ought to all bode well for the likes of BATM Telco.

........"slated to be available during the first half of 2019.

Sprint said it will be the first smartphone in the country with built-in 5G, a distinction that rival Verizon might contest as it launches its first 5G-capable phone this week.

While details remain a mystery, Sprint promised its 5G network will be capable of full-length HD movie downloads in "seconds instead of minutes" and the ability to play games without any "delays, hiccups or lag-time."

Another bolt on due or if not a dividend payment?

This article highlights the importance and growth of NFV/SDN........

TBR: 5G to fuel NFV/SDN
Allan Tan
August 08, 2018
telecomasia.net

Technology Business Research’s (TBR) latest NFV/SDN Telecom Market Forecast predicts that mainstream adoption of NFV/SDN is now set for the early 2020s due to operators encountering challenges with migration.

Between 2017-2022 5G will also serve as the underlying catalyst for increased NFV/SDN spending. 5G will push operators to adopt a new network architecture, and virtualization will be a critical aspect of networks.

“Despite challenges, operators will push forward with NFV/SDN and will scale their investments in these technologies. Operators must transform to stay relevant and competitive in the digital era, and NFV/SDN is a critical component of that transformation,” said TBR Telecom Senior Analyst Chris Antlitz.

Another TBR report, 1H18 Telecom Software Mediated Networks (NFV/SDN) Customer Adoption Study, observed that commercial deployments of NFV and SDN are aggressively moving forward, with nearly all leading Tier 1 operators having adopted or planning to adopt NFV and/or SDN by the end of this year

TBR Telecom Senior Analyst Michael Soper said that the cost savings potential of network virtualization and automation is becoming more evident.

“Carriers are leveraging NFV and SDN capabilities, as well as integrating cognitive technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to evolve to a zero-touch network that can automate performance management and maintenance functions to prevent network faults and reduce expenses. The industry is in the very early stages of this trend,” he cautioned.

WAN virtualization is a top priority for service providers as they implement solutions including SD-WAN and WAN optimization into their portfolios. Service provider revenue growth from software-mediated network services, particularly SD-WAN, is accelerating, but the lion’s share of WAN revenue continues to stem from traditional services such as MPLS.

The supplier landscape shows incumbent vendors, particularly hardware suppliers, remain entrenched with service providers, but face disruption within certain use cases and with respect to commoditization.

The study indicates incumbent hardware providers are best-positioned for providing NFV and SDN solutions across domains, with startups, open source players and cloud-centric vendors infrequently mentioned by respondents. Still, incumbents will face disruption with respect to certain VNFs, such as vEPC and vRAN, and the most significant threat remains hardware pricing, the area in which the overwhelming majority of respondents expect to see cost savings due to commoditization and the shift in spend to the software layer.

As the software-mediated market matures, software-centric vendors will be better-positioned than hardware-focused competitors. Additionally, vendors with highly automated service delivery and remote delivery capabilities can help service providers reduce opex tied to NFV and SDN.

Telco Systems takes center stage at Ciklum Gdansk cloud edge technologies meetup
August 9, 2018 Nikolay Hristov

Executives from Telco Systems’ research and development (R&D) centers in Israel and Poland made several presentations during the last Ciklum Gdansk Cloud Meetup, which focused on cloud edge technologies and took place on July 31, 2018 in Gdansk, Poland.

The first speaker was Paweł Koniszewski, network functions virtualization (NFV) infrastructure developer at Telco Systems, whose presentation dealt with rolling upgrades and was based on an OpenStack case study.

Koniszewki explained that any application, regardless of whether it is distributed or not, should ideally reach 100 percent service-level agreement (SLA). To achieve that, all environments need to be highly available with appropriate redundancy. He added that operations such as operating system or software upgrades need to be considered as well. He also described different approaches to preparing distributed applications to support live upgrades between versions based on OpenStack experience.

This was followed by a presentation from Dawid Deja, NFV Infrastructure developer at Telco Systems, who spoke on the topics of network functions (NF) and life cycle management (LCM), using Tacker. During the presentation, Deja demonstrated how to install and use OpenStack Tacker to make virtual network functions (VNF) management easier.

The last presentation was given by Stanislav Elenkrich, SW & Architecture Group leader at Telco Systems. The talk, entitled “NFV Edge Acceleration technologies using ARM based architecture” showcased high-level architecture for the ARM-based system on chip (SoC) acceleration mechanism. Elenkrich also shared performance results for proposed architecture while using real use cases.

NFVTime Edge Computing

He said that the true gain of NFV for carrier service providers (CSPs) comes from much faster adaptation and deployment. This enables providers to address customer needs significantly faster, while keeping in force the carrier grade nature of those services.

He pointed out that as the universal customer premises equipment (uCPE) device resources on the edge are limited the networking and security performance becomes an important aspect.

Elenkrich added that performance improvement on top of SW acceleration (DPDK/SRIOV) may be reached by HW acceleration (FPGA, NPU, embedded SoC accelerator).

He said that among the important benefits that can be gained from ARM-based SoCs are embedded HW accelerators for forwarding plane and security operations. This enables the building of smart, high performance and cost-effective NFV infrastructure, which can serve both uCPE host operating system (OS) and virtual machine (VM) which incorporate proper drivers to support it.

Remember ARM itself was taken over in 2016

SoftBank surprised the technology world with a plan to acquire British chip designer ARM Holdings for £23.4 billion ($31.4 billion) back in July, the biggest ever purchase of a European technology company. After less than two months, SoftBank is announcing today that the transaction is complete. The total acquisition price is approximately £24 billion ($31 billion), and ARM will now be delisted from the London Stock Exchange tomorrow.

SoftBank's purchase of ARM is the latest in a line of acquisitions in recent years for the Japanese company, including the $20 billion Sprint acquisition, and a $15 billion investment in Vodafone's Japanese division. ARM is well-known for designing chips and licensing them to companies like Apple and Samsung, and ARM-designed chips dominate mobile computing in phones and tablets. Fifteen billion ARM-designed chips shipped last year alone, and around half of those were in mobile devices.

SoftBank is expected to use the ARM deal to bolster its Internet of Things plans. While ARM only made around $1.5 billion in revenue last year, its low-power and efficient chips are shifting computing worldwide. SoftBank's investment is clearly long-term, and it's likely another wild bet that will pay off for the company.

Its unlikely but hardly impossible that BATM Telco would get taken over but if it where then the 200p figure is not off the radar.

I have investments in a company that develops augmented reality apps/solutions and as some on here will probably know there are precious few people capable of working with advanced system algorithms so its not a matter of simply taking the company over, you would have to maintain key personnel and development protocol.
For example iphone parts are hardly all made by Apple.
ARM would be better off with a strategic partnership which is what they have embarked on, I am sure they have numerous other tie ups with other companies.
BATM Telco are the lead player for this particular development which they intend to initiate with the likes of NXP and Marvell.

Been suggested to me that 200p is a realistic target/or price at which a taker over might happen on this one. Although i would think that would be some way down the road. Comments appreciated/thanks.

Marom does have a very large holding so although I would like to see someone else in charge I can't see it happening. Henderson also did have a significant holding (10%?).
I suppose what this means is that there are a limited number of shares which can be bought and sold so if demand exceeds supply then the price should continue to rise.
