held these for what seems like ever - only a few £k's worth now - don't follow them but have now got time to have a clearout of my share portfolios and am looking for any reason to keep BVC but can't - looking to take hit and move on with a few dud holdings.
Anybody offer any reasons to keep hold? - all I see is a flatline between 10 to 20p for the past several years.

Telco Systems Puts NFV Ecosystem on Edge
Carol Wilson
NEWS ANALYSIS
CAROL WILSON, Editor-at-large
3/12/2015
COMMENT (3)

Telco Systems has joined the rush of vendors creating an NFV/SDN ecosystem, but is focusing its efforts specifically at the network's edge.

The Open Edge Alliance is a bit different in that it is intended to enable smaller companies to get their applications certified to be part of a carrier-grade virtualized edge solution aimed at service providers. Network operators who deploy Telco Systems (BATM) 's CloudMetro platform can then easily launch services that make sense at the edge of the network.

The early players in the new alliance include Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC), AudioCodes Ltd. (Nasdaq: AUDC), Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP) and Netrounds , a Swedish company that does workflow automation software, which can run on a PC. Telco Systems intends for the Alliance to have an online store of applications that can run on its CloudMetro distributed NFV platform.

That platform can be deployed either on the customer premises or in a colocation point or Central Office in a metro area that is within 1,000 feet of the end customer, so it meets both common definitions of the network's edge, notes Gal Offel, Telco System's vice president of product marketing.

"We are providing both a carrier Ethernet switch and an Intel CPU environment so that service providers can instantly launch an IaaS service and add the services that make sense at the edge, like firewalls, VPNs, end-to-end monitoring," Offel says. The new capabilities can be deployed alongside the existing customer premises equipment or can replace it.

Get up close and personal with vendor NFV strategies on the NFV Elements channel here on Light Reading.
Since announcing CloudMetro last June, Telco Systems has been running trials and proofs of concept with carriers in Europe and APAC and has plans for North America PoCs as well, Offel notes. Through these trials, they have identified what capabilities service providers most want to see added to the edge. By creating an off-the-shelf commercial platform that will support mix-and-matching of service capabilities, the Open Edge Alliance would help network operators generate new revenues faster. (See Telco Systems Plots Transition to SDN/NFV.)

This is all based on the deployment of NFV and SDN, which Offel admits is not a likely commercial reality this year. But creating commercial service deployment opportunities at the edge helps advance that cause.

On the back end, the Open Edge Alliance is working to interface with multiple orchestration systems so it can be integrated into a network operator's preferred network management approach. Initially, the group is working with Cyan Inc. and TailF, now part of Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO).

"We have our orchestration tools, but we understand the whole game here is working with other orchestration tools or allowing others to work with our orchestration," Offel says. "We are an expert in Carrier Ethernet and, now with virtualization, we understand that probably with Tier 1 customers, they already have their management, which will be extended to orchestration, so we have to work with somebody else. With smaller companies, they may want us to provide the orchestration."

Carol, thanks. That's what I was wondering, is who will lead in building the platform to fully develop the market, and who is most likely to profit from the development of an ecosystem.

Re: Telco Systems - NFV Ecosystem on Edge
Right now, it's largely about the transition plan, I think. You have groups like OPNFV and ETSI that are working out the details of the architecture and a bunch of others that are working on orchestration and more, meanwhile carriers such as AT&T, NTT, DT, Colt and CenturyLink are out there pushing forward their plans to virtualize.

So it's coming down to who wants to do this and in what time frame.

Carol, sounds like a smart move by Open Edge Alliance in advancing their market and gaining new customers with adaptable and scalable solutions.

What are the primary factors limiting the commercial development of NFV and SDN?

Telco Systems Unveils Open Edge Alliance for SDN, NFV Solutions
Mar 11, 2015 Michael Cusanelli The VAR Guy

Telco Systems' Open Edge Alliance is expected to help partners develop IaaS businesses and easily utilize third-party networking solutions with its ecosystem.

Telco Systems unveiled its new Open Edge Alliance program, designed to help partners become infrastructure-as-a-service providers.

The Open Edge Alliance will focus on providing communication service providers operating in the network edge with off-the-shelf software-defined networking (SDN) and distributed network functions virtualization (NFV) solutions, according to Telco. The company expects its new ecosystem to help alliance partners increase the amount of revenue received from new services as well as improve stickiness among SDN and NFV applications.

Alliance members also will have the option to develop their own apps for certification through the ecosystem, according to the announcement. Telco, which specializes in carrier Ethernet and MPLS edge solutions, said it expects the alliance to develop into an ecosystem of applications compatible with the company’s distributed NFV-hosting CloudMetro platform.
Related

The Open Edge Alliance will focus on fulfilling two main objectives, according to Gal Ofel, head of Software Solution Product Line Management at Telco Systems: providing partners with access to pre-built solutions that can easily be resold to end customers and interoperability with third-party partner solutions.

“We are looking into solutions that will allow service providers to upsell their existing customers things that will allow them to [put] money toward the services they provide,” said Ofel, in an interview with The VAR Guy.

Telco has secured several members for the Open Edge Alliance, including Intel (INTC), Check Point and AudioCodes, with more members expected, Ofel said.

“The main benefit of the alliance is that (communication service providers) can provide a complete infrastructure to their business customers … which translates into additional revenues,” said Ofel.

Telco is also working on developing its online store and plans to implement a platform to allow customers to access applications in a self-service mode, according to Ofel.

“Service providers need to see carrier-grade VNFs coming in real numbers,” said Moshe Shimon, vice president of Product Management and Marketing at Telco Systems, in a statement. “With our large customer base and extensive experience in delivering intelligent network solutions all the way to the network edge, our Open Edge Alliance is bridging the gap between Distributed NFV vendors and telco customers.”

It is very tedious and repetitive but I will give it to the end of 2015.I remember Cisco saying 2015 would be transformational for telecoms but I can't find the article just now (at least 3 yrs ago).More recently Imagination Technologies identified six key trends from MWC (last week)....SDN/NFV was at No.2....so I am keen to see what occurs.
I am keen on the medical side too but things in this domain move painfully slowly.....impatience is not a good enough reason (for me) to Jack it in with batty......onward and upward (but probably sideways for a while) ;-)

Not that its exactly encouraging but for context it should be noted that Cisco share price is about the same as it was 5 years ago.
This environment has not been kind for Telco suppliers as providers long term delayed upgrades to systems .....

So we have the Telco arm struggling and the Israeli infrastructure project coming to fruition all slower than expected. The Telco arm did sell some new kit this year... but can they build on that? its a big maybe.

The medical division has been growing but hardly at a staggering pace. More it got bigger in the %scheme of things as Telco sales melted away.
There are undeniably positives in the medical arm and this division is only now at the point you could consider it "established" rather than "emerging" with the costs of supporting larger sales volumes will drop and ought to start to be seen in the bottom line.

Markets were expecting this obviously and its an improvement over managements November 2014 cautions. But they said that last year !!!!!!!!!
I rate them at FMV and they need the revenue to snap back.

Can anyone spot the differences in CEO statement from last year to this year.
Had they made even a small amount of progress it would have been somewhat justified.
I can't see how the foreign exchange made such a great difference and the "one time write off " of legacy products was another second coming.
You can't write "one time write offs" over again the next year.
I feel the company need to explain these results a lot more fully than the casual references in this statement.
I am honestly not impressed with this.....

Positive sides are there to see but will they deliver ? they appear to be struggling.
Still the current share price reflects the situation here so there you have it !!!!

Dr Zvi Marom, Chief Executive Officer of BATM, said:

“The Group is making progress in both of its divisions, with the Medical division experiencing good growth and the Telecom division seeing early positive signs from the change of its strategy to focus on Tier 1 clients.

“Looking ahead, the momentum of the fourth quarter has continued into the new year, particularly in the Medical division. We expect the Medical division to achieve another year of solid organic growth with a greater number of products being delivered to more territories and increased cooperation with major industry players. In the Telecom division, we expect to start benefitting from sales to Tier 1 companies. We believe that the steps taken in 2013 will result in BATM delivering growth and improved results in 2014 compared with 2013.”

errrrrr fast forward a year .........

Dr Zvi Marom, Chief Executive Officer of BATM, said:

"We are pleased that the Group made solid progress in both its divisions this year. The Medical division is now the dominant business whilst the Telecom division has stabilised and is recovering well. The underlying fundamentals of the businesses are sound and, were it not for the foreign exchange impact in reporting the results and the one-time write-off of the legacy business inventory, the numbers would have reflected the progress achieved in the year.

"Looking ahead, we believe that the momentum of the fourth quarter will continue into 2015, particularly in the Medical division. We expect the Medical division to achieve another year of solid growth with a greater number of products being delivered to more territories and increased cooperation with major industry players. In the Telecom division, we expect to start benefitting from contracts awarded in the second half of 2014. Consequently, the Board is confident of delivering improved results in 2015 compared with 2014."

No this next set of results are expected to be more misery and the share price is dragging along the bottom as a result.
This is what they last indicated

"As a result, BATM expects that revenues and profit for the full year 2014 will be slightly lower compared with 2013 and below market expectations. The Group’s balance sheet and cash position remain strong."

This has to be balanced with reported progress .......

As far as the TASE listing goes I wonder how much of that is related to the apparent no progress on the Israeli Infra structure rendering the company less attractive to local investors .... they did cite reasons in their announcement.
