A sneaky buyer (some like to call it an iceberg-style order) has been sitting on the bid from about midday yesterday. Kept getting hit in 5s and 10s, but didn't falter, moving UP his bid slowly but surely through COB today from an initial 24.5p to 26p. Sad that the market for small(er) caps in this country is so miserable that such old school activity is even worthy of comment, but this is the market we are currently forced to inhabit, and these days such a buyer 'on the book', even for a small-cap blue chip like BATM, is a rare sight indeed. Whether it was a pro covering a small short into the interims or, more likely, a big holder looking to show some love to the market price, (rather than just being a 'show me offers' off-book buyer), I don't know and frankly, I don't care. Just nice to see for a change.....

As a matter of interest .... when is the last date, that BATM are obliged to present their half year figures - 31.8.23 or 30.9.23 ?

It's just very strange that they have not issued a pre-note to advise the shareholders as to when the results will be presented...... especially if they will do it next Tuesday.

If we are expecting a trading update on Tuesday, then I'd expect a slight bump in the price before the close.Especially with Israel closed today, open Sun and UK closed Mon.

I think the development strategy for the Ador 'unicorn' has been evident for some time, resistance, and it was pretty much nailed on with the CMD deck/presentation. Basically, its my view that the Company's first real mention of JVs in last year's annual review and then at the CMD last month, was pretty much specifically referencing Ador. Essentially, I think BATM will bring in a deep-pocketed partner to commit to carrying a significant share of the commercialisation budget for Ador in exchange for allowing their stake in Ador to be diluted. Any deal of that sort would almost certainly leave BATM owning say 20% (from 38% if memory serves) of a much larger imputed value for Ador, which would likely represent a very useful catalyst for our share price far sooner than in 36 months. As for Edgility and Cyber, I think the Company will opt for a more conventional combination of using their cash pile to invest in the marketing channel and looking for partnerships where and when appropriate.

I’ve come to realise that we are all in this for at least another 36-months to realise ‘unicorn’; style returns. It will take that time to properly commercialise Ador and Edgility and possibly cyber to significant scale. Also costly to set up 3 marketing networks to execute this. Their $40m reserves may not be enough to seize these massive opportunities. Hence I suppose the mention of JV partners.

Interestingly as you say the share price of ONT has fallen about the same as BATM in the same time period. I posted about having shares in Genmark diagnostics which I sold at a healthy profit, it did not have BATM range of IP but it was valued at over $1bn.

Posted on other board too. Competition for Ador Diagnostics.

In April this year Oxford Nanopore Technologies plc (LSE: ONT) announced that they have teamed up with bioMérieux to bring nanopore sequencing to the infectious disease diagnostics market. They say their solution will be commercially available in approx. 24-months (April 2025.) The molecular diagnostics market will reach £24.9bn by this time. This is roughly the same timeline for full commercial availability for Ador Natlab molecular diagnostics platform for infectious diseases. Interesting Oxford Nanopore is currently valued at £2bn on current (stripping out covid testing) sales of around £160m and is yet to break even. It was worth at the end of 2021 nearly £6bn and will probably get back to those heady heights when true stock valuations return. Ador Natlab will be the market leader in terms of processing speed, diagnosis cost and the number of different diseases it detects. In June’s CMD presentation it was flagged a JV partner would be brought on board to rapidly commercialise it. Down the line, Ador Natlab would also be further developed to test the gut microbiome for traces of other diseases and for oncology diagnosis.

Overall, I had no idea of the scale of opportunity that awaits us here.

Cumnor, Moti has only been around for 6 months and although that is enough time to change internal procedures/senior management, the affects of his replacement on bottom line will take longer than 6 months. Understandably, if he has not made a positive impression by 2024 then I think your idea of moving to the US and having someone with Nasdaq background to change things up isn't a bad idea.

Agreed that Quantum proof encryption is someway down the line. But as Celare, currently only deals with one government all options for revenue expansion need to be grasped. BATM putting that Quantum post up may indicate that research has started and could be externally funded. To commercialise Celare further they need either to white label a business encryption product/service under their brand or market a simplified version of their existing code.

Quantum computing solutions welcome but are geared for a decade down the road-something more current in either new health and Telco contracts or overall strategy (such as a move to the US) might be a bit more helpful to the current share price malaise. New (he is old school in outlook) CEO not really making any impression yet. Totally new blood-somebody with a Nasdaq background maybe-needed at the top to shake out the cobwebs?

Geographically BATM could be in a difficult position but I think the potential impact BATM could have on quantum computing is enormous, especially as it is highly unlikely that a single company will get a monopoly over low latency networking.

Quantum solutions need low latency "secure" networking and edge facility to allow systems to run in actual time. Online retailing with virtual try on apps are an avenue I am familiar with. The uses are infinite.

On a sour note the political scene in Israel leaves a lot to be desired it should nevertheless have a muted effect for the company as Telco is in the US and Adaltis in Italy. It's just another issue that no one needs right now.

On one of my trading services H1’s are stated as 29th — though sometimes they get this wrong. Can anyone else confirm? (Added later) Another (Investing.com) states earning in 6 days, the 22nd. The 29th seems more likely to me.

wow. pretty big block prints well after the close: 2.25m at 25.25p. Decent price, probably the same buyer as a couple weeks ago, which is also positive, but it would be nice to see some of these large private investors show a bit more patience!

Combining both AI and quantum computing would exponentially increase the powers of AI. As already mentioned, problems would be solved significantly faster. Interested to see if BATM can capitalise on this growing sector. They are certainly in a good position to do so.

As soon as true quantum computing has been launched (there are a few claims by giants like Google who claim they have made a working quantum computer)all existing encryption will be vulnerable. Quantum computing ups processing power by x1000 and therefore decoding tasks that currently take years will be done in under a day.

I came across an article the other day regarding Quantum computing and the potential impact that it has for encrypting/decrypting code in all areas of business/government. When i saw this i thought about BATM's Celare encryption unit and how BATM could capitalize on yet another potential massive headstart. If BATM can bolster their celare product to protect clients against quantum decryption (once it has been invented and made available), then this is definitely a gold mine. I know this is thinking well in advance but BATM has so much areas for serious growth and potential that if executed correctly could be massive.

Thanks for your input resistance. The market seems to have amnesia over the carrier ethernet switches and as you say telco systems did indeed increase their offering in this department. My understanding is that Telco would have moved a lot more units but were constrained by supply issues indicated by their reference to backlog.

I also posted this on the other board too... I flagged a short while back that due to my work with data centers I was aware that the market for ethernet switch equipment to fit them out was booming. Both for re-equipment and for new build sites. IDC who are the specialist IT market researchers (I used to work for them in my first job) have reported huge revenue growth for leading carrier ethernet switch suppliers in the last year:

1. Arista Networks saw Ethernet switch revenues increased 63.6% year over year in 4Q22 and rose 55.4% for the full year

2. Huawei's Ethernet switch revenue increased 28.6% in 4Q22 and rose 20.0% on the full year

3. Cisco's Ethernet switch revenues increased 18.4% year over year in 4Q22 and rose 13.4% for the full year

In 2022 Telco boosted their product offering for this audience and must be reaping rich awards. It is a sellers market. I'm hoping we will see this reflected in revenues. In H1 results last year BATM reported that 'Network Edge (Carrier Ethernet) delivery on significant backlog from contracts won in previous years and repeat orders won this year.' So hoping this picture has significantly improved further. H1 2022 revenue was stated as 'Revenue from ongoing operations increased by 44% to $13.1m (H1 2021: $9.1m)' This included Cyber as they don't split it out. Will be keeping a close eye on the coming H1's.
