18/9/2020 13:05 | Looks like all the "horse-trading" has been done, and the price will stay at this level (hopefully) until the next bit (hopefully significant)of news comes along. NB : This sale of ARM does not seem straight forward. The Government are getting involved .... and also the Chinese. So not sure where this will end up. | rawdeal1

14/9/2020 21:08 | Good post, FSE, and the closer US-Israel link may perhaps ease technology exchange and use in BATM's favour than was the case with Softbank? | cumnor
14/9/2020 17:03 | Heres the release from Nvidia regarding ARM acquisition. Some reaction I am not going to get into why this is not good for the UK as the founders of ARM have already stated the reasons most concisely. Our concern is how will this impact Telco systems. There is no secret to the fact that ARM were held back by Softbank and research money was targeted in perhaps not the best directions. Its worth repeating that Telco systems are an American company albeit owned by BATM. I am getting the impression that Telco will be delighted to be working with Nvidia especially as the shackles will be taken off ARM to charge into AI and 5G developments. Most of what Telco systems do is just what Nvidia want to see advanced. US does not want to get left behind China on this and they have been taking steps to ensure that does not happen. There is no downside I can see for Telco systems but the upside could be huge as it could have some pretty unfettered access to core US infrastructure projects, whilst retaining its own interests. Added: These are in my anticipated range 110p to 145p which I posted a few weeks ago. They are getting walked around on lower volumes. I think the markets are still caught up with Covid and ignoring Telco news. One other factor in the 5G and AI field in the network virtualisation shift into empowering UCP's (CP's) is that Telco NFVTime supports Intel platforms as well as ARM's. I am not sure the US would want to see an outright monopoly building here with Nvidia. Only saying that whilst ARM platform may be superior it is not the only act in town and one sh*t load of systems run on Intel. ARM/NFVTime may be a class act but Intel/NFVTime is a huge target. Telco systems recent win on Intel/NFVTime platform was IMO very significant. Check this out this is from Intel network builders. and another "Intel" link to Telco systems. | fse

13/9/2020 12:47 | Well if they bought it for 32bn and sell it for 40bn. Thats a 25% profit in 4 years. Sometimes it pays to bank a profit. | car1pet
13/9/2020 10:35 | Why would Softbank want to sell, with 5G on the horizon ? | rawdeal1
12/9/2020 08:29 | FSE...excellent comment at 1727 last night...thank you | gerihatrick
11/9/2020 22:10 | Cant really disagree with Ups1de comments from an earnings perspective. On that metric they are generously valued. What is difficult to gauge here is the actual value of their IP especially as they have so many avenues in later stage development and actually starting to generate some revenue. I think we are likely to hear about developments on the cyber security front. The NFVTime win was so important as it was won on an Intel Platform and is a stand alone contract. Remember BATM own Celare. Added link. Expected concerns from the UK government to keep ARM independent never materialized. Its not bad for BATM /Telco systems thats based in Foxborough Massachusetts but hardly good for the UK tech industry. Looks like sale is going through. Surprised me. Maybe thats why Marom commented, more as an aside, that sale to Nvidia was a good thing from their perspective Ownership by Softbank as an investor and takeover acquisition by Nvidia are in no way the same. Under Softbank ARM just did their thing " ARM is headquartered in Cambridge, United Kingdom and has 44 office locations across 20 countries." Under Nvidia the future will be different. "NVIDIA is headquartered in Santa Clara, CA and has 48 office locations across 22 countries." Controversial at the time, Arm's sale to SoftBank now seems like a regrettable mistake. In UK hands, Arm might conceivably have been a rallying point for network start-ups, software companies and 5G innovators without the risk of interference by or dependency on a foreign owner. FWIW I honestly thought the government would have been all over this but apparently the only objections have come from the opposition party with Govt saying its not a threat to national security. OK ... ? | fse
11/9/2020 20:00 | BATM Chief Exec is always heavy on promises but light on detail. With a current PE>112 they better demonstrate some serious growth in 20/21.Can anyone see them doubling their profits this year ? Then they would still have a PE >50.Too often on his videos we are asked to believe the future is bright ...without any £sales or margin info.Recent 5G & Covid test videos classic examples. Eg on 5G :What key numbers to hang your hat on ?Dont get me wrong 3 excellent product sectors to compete in and emerging evidence of potential success. However BATM share is surely currently priced for perfection and if their Covid equipment/tests don't translate into strong incremental cash at interims the share price volatility could well continue. I'm glad I bought into the Investor Chronicle buy recommendation around 40p.I've done extremely well out of the price appreciation to date & certainly hope Simon Thompson is right about his 170 p target.Just a bit more financial detail on prospects please. | ups1de |
