It tends to overshoot exdiv so quite a few wait for it to bottom out before jumping in if you're looking for capital gains only. If it's your pension fund you ride it out that appears to be the norm

Yes,we’re all aware that the price drops on ex day to make sure you don’t benefit from the dividend and make a profit on the share price. Normally it will recover, but there’s a lot of bad times ahead I feel.
