16/11/2016 08:58 | Well, Berkeley have clearly flagged that the top end of the London market is declining. One of their biggest developments is next door to my flat and they are clearly dragging their feet as they originally announced that the first phase would be ready for occupation by the end of the year and they are now saying it will be at least another 6-9 months and they haven't even started on the second phase....having said that the cheapest flat on the site is over £1.1M according to their website so they are in a completely different market to Barratt and I guess that is why this update is interesting in that Barratt is much more mass market but is clearly struggling in London. I own Crest Nicholson and am kicking myself that I missed the big initial rise on yesterdays results but valuations across the sector are very low so there is plenty of room to lower expectations. | salpara111
16/11/2016 08:48 | If i had ramped i would have included the dividend The market could change - google to open head office with 3000 people in london All know that London is hit and miss due to brexit All builders down Ftse is was down 40 after dow yet again being positive | the_equaliser
16/11/2016 08:37 | but the market seems to have passed judgement today but surprising it has been hit so hard so far ! | arja
16/11/2016 08:33 | Yeah I've seen all that, however stating the London market is stalling is pretty significant as it IS the market. I'm all for you posting but think it should be balanced rather then ramped. | armourer
16/11/2016 08:30 | I agree the statement was flat Negative points ??? you mean this "We are mindful of the potential for economic uncertainty created by the outcome of the EU Referendum. However, market fundamentals are robust, and we remain a housebuilder of choice. "Barratt's commitment to quality design, build and excellence in market-leading customer service has supported our strong sales performance. Our focus remains on maintaining good operational and financial performance, and delivering attractive shareholder returns." | the_equaliser |
