Immigration = Housing Crisis

Tent Cities at the Horizon

Top UK councils for refusing major housing development revealed

The top 15 local planning authorities in the UK for refusing new major housing developments have been identified. Leading property data provider, Search Acumen, has found that the majority of councils refusing at least 1 in 2 submissions for major new housing in 2023 are disproportionately in London, the South East, and East of England.

Reviewing planning permissions refused for all major residential developments of more than 10 units in 2023, where at least 10 applications were submitted, Mole Valley emerged as the top UK local planning authority with a refusal rate of 77%. The Surrey district, run by the Liberal Democrats, is located near the Surrey Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Beauty, with an average house price of £565,000.

Twelve of the top 15 local planning authorities that refused at least 50% of major housing developments were in London, the South East, or the East of England. This means housebuilders in these areas have the lowest chance of obtaining a successful planning application in the country. The analysis also indicates that councils without a majority party have an increased likelihood (60%) of refusing major new housing developments, as political instability hinders development despite the national housing crisis.

Population projections released this year by the Office for National Statistics show the UK growing by 6.6 million people from 2021 to 2036, suggesting that at least 5.7 million homes will need to be built in England over the next 15 years to meet demand. This equates to building an average of 382,000 homes per year, 60% higher than the current rate of 240,000 homes built in 2022-23.

Consumer prices in the EU 20 countries that share the euro rose by 2.6 per cent in May from a year earlier..

The EU printed too much money for their covid loans. Too much relying on Putin's oil and gas. Inflation will not be falling anytime soon, their rates need to go up not down.

European Central Bank set to cut interest rates despite inflation worries

The European Central Bank is all but certain to be the first major central bank to cut interest rates this week as it shrugs off a rise in inflation and takes a different path in monetary policy from the UK and US.

Consumer prices in the 20 countries that share the euro rose by 2.6 per cent in May from a year earlier, according to Eurostat’s flash estimate, up from 2.4 per cent in April and edging further away from the ECB’s target of two per cent.

Trump: ‘Not sure public would stand’ for his imprisonment

Former U.S. President Donald Trump says he can cope with possibly being imprisoned after being convicted of illegally trying to influence the outcome of the 2016 election that he won but is “not sure the public would stand for it.”

Trump told “Fox and Friends Weekend” in a taped interview that aired Sunday, “I think it would be tough for the public to take. You know at a certain point, there's a breaking point." He did not expand on his thought of how the public might react.

Musk says jury verdict against Trump damages US legal system

The US businessman noted that if even an ex-president of the United States can be prosecuted "over such a trivial matter - motivated by politics, rather than justice," anyone "is at risk of a similar fate"

NEW YORK, May 31. /TASS/. The jury's verdict on former White House host Donald Trump's guilt of falsifying financial documents of the Trump Organization has caused a lot of damage to the US legal system, US businessman Elon Musk said.

"Indeed, great damage was done today to the public's faith in the American legal system," Musk wrote on his X page. In his opinion, if even an ex-president of the United States can be prosecuted "over such a trivial matter - motivated by politics, rather than justice", anyone "is at risk of a similar fate."

According to the businessman, the jury's decision is worrying against the backdrop of the upcoming US presidential election.

On May 30, a New York jury found Trump guilty of falsifying the Trump Organization's financial documents while paying off former porn star Stormy Daniels. The presidential candidate was found guilty on all 34 counts against him. Sentencing is scheduled for July 11.

The US presidential election will be held on November 5. Trump has already secured the necessary number of delegates to be nominated as the Republican candidate for the post of head of state. The incumbent US President Joe Biden, who is running for a second term, has secured the support of a sufficient number of delegates from the Democratic Party. Thus, the battle will unfold between the same candidates as four years ago, when Biden defeated Trump for re-election to the highest state office.

RUSSIAN ARMY HIT 54 UKRAINIAN TARGETS WITH LANCET LOITERING MUNITIONS PAST WEEK (VIDEOS)

Support SouthFront

The Russian military damaged or destroyed 54 different targets of Kiev forces using Lancet loitering munitions during the past week.

The Ukrainian losses between May 26 and June 1, all documented in video by Lostarmour.info, were:

10 Self-propelled howitzers, including one Ukrainian-made Bohdana;

11 Towed howitzers, including one American-made M777;

Two multiple rocket launchers, all of which were Soviet-made BM-21 Grad;
Seven Main battle tanks;

Four infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers, including one Canadian-made Roshel Senator;

Two engineering vehicles, including one Soviet-made MTU-72 armored bridge layer and Soviet-made BREM-1 armored recovery vehicle;

Two anti-aircraft guns;

Five air defense systems, including three Soviet-made Osa, one Soviet-made Strela-10 and one Soviet-made Buk-M1;

Two electronic warfare system, both were Ukrainian-made Bukovel-AD;

Two radars, one American-made AN-TPQ-50 counter-battery radar and one Czech-made VERA-NG passive aerial surveillance radar;

Six trucks and other military vehicles of unidentified types;

One post used by drone operators.

The Lancet was developed by the ZALA Aero Group, a subsidiary of Russia’s defense giant Kalashnikov Concern. The company produces two versions of the loitering munition, the Izdeliye-52 with an endurance of 30 minutes and a one-kilogram warhead and the larger Izdeliye-51 that has an endurance of 40 minutes and is armed with a warhead weighting three kilograms.

The loitering munition flies towards the designated area with a GLONASS-aided inertial navigation system. After arriving in the area, the operator utilizes an onboard electro-optical system via a two-way data-link to detect, track and lock on the target. A laser-ranging system then controls the detonation of the warhead.

Ukrainian attempts to stop Lancet loitering munitions with air defense fire, electronic warfare or countermeasures have so far been mostly unsuccessful.

Lostarmour.info documented a record 302 Lancet strikes during May. The number of documented strikes this month has already reached a record 11. It’s worth noting that many strikes remain classified, which means the real number of strikes could be much higher.
