Manics : We can't always get it right and it was only your TS that caught you out. Interesting to see the buyback at a much less aggressive level...for now.
The world is opening up.... and a level of normality seems to be returning. I guess we have to ask ourselves if Barc can do the jump to + 191p ...? I would say yes fwiw, but putting a timeframe on it is not so easy.

Today the markets look happy again and a +30 point start to the ftse will give a nice lift to the banks. I read the other day that yields are forecast to begin rising over the the coming month/s ...?

BlackRock joins Citi to study plans to shut coal plants in Asia early

SINGAPORE (BLOOMBERG) - BlackRock and other major financial institutions are working on plans to accelerate the closure of coal-fired power plants in Asia, in a bid to phase out the use of the worst man-made contributors to climate change.

The world's biggest asset manager is partnering with Citigroup, HSBC Holdings and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to study the proposals, according to people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be named discussing a private matter.

Britain kowtows to China in the South China Sea

But it now appears that Johnson wants to have his cake and eat it. He'll talk a big game and make a big show, but when it comes to China, Johnson is Captain Kowtow.

Johnson is happy to sell critical semiconductor infrastructure to Beijing, but where it matters most, he'll leave America on its own. Washington should and will take note.

I think City could sting rotation cyclical stocks as firms reveal more of the covid19 fallout, redundancies, inflation squeeze. Banks face stiff competition from fintechs with recent fintech ipos showing City willing to price them at a higher rating than established banks.

A growing number of consumers appear to like buying on the drip rather than by credit cards.

Overall it looks as if banks will be forced to defend market share or pay a high price in IT or buying fintechs to reinvent themselves.
