27/12/2020 11:08 | Some year end balancing to do, with next week the traditional purveyor of the Santa rally. Brexit done. Balancing can deliver further moves in individual instruments -so losers lose a bit more and gainers gain. I think we should see further positive moves in BARC next week in thin trade. 16X has to be the year end target -which blows my 110p (which I nominated back on NOV from memory) right out of the water. Trade idea: BOO is on it's way to a 4 handle imo. Results JAN 14th. GLA | manics

24/12/2020 18:00 | The FTSE 100 has barely gone anywhere in the last 20 years. Compare that to the performance of the S&P 500, which is up almost 70%, the Nikkei 225 which is up over 50% and the German DAX which is up over 25%, and it’s hard to argue that the FTSE 100 has seen a pretty poor return over the past few years. Since the outcome of that Brexit vote became known, the FTSE 100 has gone pretty much nowhere, despite the fact the pound is around 20% weaker on an exchange rate weighted basis since that. | high yields
24/12/2020 17:51 | Britain's currency tumbled to around 20% below long-term fair value, stock prices underperformed almost every other major market and businesses held back on new investment. The government has put in place the heaviest public borrowing since World War Two, while the Bank of England has engaged an 895 billion-pound bond buying programme to combat the effects of Brexit and the COVID-19 pandemic. | high yields

24/12/2020 17:49 | Sterling has been on a rollercoaster since the June 2016 Brexit vote -- its volatility sometimes resembling that of an emerging market currency. From trading above $1.50 before the referendum, the pound has had several brief forays below $1.20 - its lowest level since the 1980s. It is now trading around $1.36 - indicating a Brexit discount remains. | high yields
24/12/2020 17:47 | Hi Brexiters, With a large current account deficit and a debt-to-GDP before the COVID-19 pandemic above 80%, Britain is reliant on international investors' confidence in the UK economy and its markets. Britain's current account deficit, higher than many peers, has fallen sharply during the pandemic. But the budget deficit is soaring as the government ups spending to rescue the economy and debt-to-GDP is approaching 100% -- leaving less headroom to spend should the economy need more support after the Brexit transition period. | high yields |
