Reminds me of Sbry shares that were plodding along around 230p after years of underperformance then comes the Asda merger news and the share price shoots up to 330p...Barc could do with a mega deal with another bank to send shares to 280p - 300p so long suffering shareholders can hopefully see a profit or opportunity to bail out.....

Great news for investors – Barclays is still trading at a fairly cheap price. According to my valuation, the intrinsic value for the stock is £2.83, but it is currently trading at UK£1.76 on the share market, meaning that there is still an opportunity to buy now. Barclays’s share price also seems relatively stable compared to the rest of the market, as indicated by its low beta. If you believe the share price should eventually reach its true value, a low beta could suggest it is unlikely to rapidly do so anytime soon, and once it’s there, it may be hard to fall back down into an attractive buying range.

After 5 years as CEO of Barclays, he has reduced the value of the business and the share price
The Divi has not improved at all and is where it was when he became CEO.
Despite the numerous , inherited conduct issues, he has failed to provide increased returns to shareholders, whilst rewarding himself and the BoD with substantial remunerations.
Time for him to go.......

My only concern is, that any new CEO will just deliver more of the same .

A friend of Higgins told the MoS: 'Clearly the current board is worried. I think the chairman is very stressed about it. [Nigel Higgins] is a nice guy, he's quite a straight-shooter. I think they're going to get rid of Staley.'

There is not much left in England that is not Chinese owned. Even over half of UK debt is Chinese owned and soon its Internet and now the new Railway system. The World leaders did warn you about getting into debt with China but Osborne new better.
