Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) remains HSBC’s preferred play.

HSBC left its rating on the stock at ‘buy’ and increased its target price to 270p from 260p, saying it is confident Barclays will earn “something close to a ‘cost-of-equity’ return on tangible equity in 2019”.

Barclays will benefit from tax cuts in the US, given that 40% of its profits come from operations there while revenues are expected to grow and the under-pressure investment bank has started to bounce bank.

May play the numbers game to keep as many people happy as possible. It is becoming more and more likely she will fail. The more watered down the approach the greater likelihood of a deal to be in full paid membership with no rights.
It has to be asked what terms do the EU want, remembering they offered Cameron no lenienancy to strike the original no vote.
EU seems not for it's members but the other way around.

I lost track of whatever point you are trying to make ages ago potty, you’re like a scatter gun they used on pirate ships, fill the barrel up with any iron at hand, nails, knives, forks & use as a last resort. We had a referendum & an election, that’s it for the next couple of years, just accept the reality & move forward Mr Magoo.

Portside - Poll questions are always worded to produce the answer wanted by those paying the bill.

I used to be treasurer for the Council for Complementary and Alternative Medicine and we employed Gallup many years ago to ask whether alternative medicine (osteopathy, acupuncture, homoeopathy etc) should be available on the NHS.

The question they asked was 'Do you agree with Prince Charles when he says alternative medicine should be available on the NHS', which was nothing like our version.

IMO the problem for UK Banks is their exposure to an overheated UK property market

Which is now starting to unwind first by over 20% drop in London in last 12 months

Where London leads the rest then follow

IMO we are looking at at least a 30% drop over next 24 months nationwide

Brexit will get kicked back by a year if May stays ... which will also suit the EU
