Until the results and the forthcoming 3-4% fall on some poor IB performance and exuberant bonus payments.

Then another year of if's and maybe's like the last decade !

Barclays is expected to go from a relatively unappealing dividend stock to one that could generate an impressive income return. The company is due to yield almost 4% next year, which puts it in the upper echelons of FTSE 100 yielders. The bank has been able to successfully restructure in the last few years, and this could mean that it is able to maintain a fast-growing dividend. Therefore, I feel upbeat about the investment potential of Barclays.

Britain’s millennial generation, born since 1981, have suffered a bigger reversal in financial fortunes than their counterparts in most other developed countries except Greece, according to a study.

The report by the Resolution Foundation paints a gloomy picture for all young adults across the developed world – apart from the Nordic countries. It highlights how incomes are depressed, jobs scarce and home ownership is slumping for the millennial generation compared with the baby boomers that preceded them.

Following a quarter century of failure, how long before Barclays is added to such nostalgia posts? Boomer dinosaur brands of yesteryear -"the way we were" imo.

Trump.."No more job destroying economic surrender to rebuild Communist China"

Donald Trump SECRETLY PLOTTING new trade plan following fears of China economic DOMINATION

A COALITION of countries is plotting to establish a new regional infrastructure scheme in a bid to stop China’s increasing economic domination, it has been revealed.

China is spending billions of dollars to revive its famous Silk Road trade routes in order to increase trade deals around the world in a bid to become a key economic ally of dozens of countries.

It is said that serious discussions are now being held by the United States, Australia, India and Japan, known as ‘the Quad’, as they try to counter Beijing’s spreading influence.

Not overly optimistic. Staley could be under pressure if there is no sign of life at the investment bank. I think he has had long enough, signs of improvement or replace him.

(Bloomberg) -- Barclays Plc’s operating unit was added to a criminal case stemming from the lender’s controversial 12 billion-pound ($16.9 billion) fundraising at the height of the financial crisis a decade ago.
The Barclays Bank Plc unit, accused of “unlawful financial assistance,” was added to the case relating to a $3 billion loan the bank secured from Qatar in November 2008 by Judge Deborah Taylor during a short hearing at Southwark Crown Court in London. It joins the holding company and four former executives, including ex-Chief Executive Officer John Varley, in facing charges in the Serious Fraud Office case.
A trial is scheduled for early 2019.
Any charges against the operating unit are problematic because, if convicted, the lender’s ability to do business globally might be affected. Regulatory approvals and banking licenses are usually tied to banks’ operating units, through which products and services are provided.
Officials at Barclays didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on Friday.
After the charge was announced Monday, the bank said it “does not expect there to be an impact on its ability to serve its customers and clients as a consequence of the charge having been brought.”

" Barclays too cheap despite challenges" according to today's Investors Chronicle....

which has them as a buy at 194p.

".....Much progress has been made improving its common equity tier one ratio, which stood at 13.1 per cent at the end of September, up from 11.6 per cent the previous year. That’s been driven by reducing its risk-weighted assets, but it’s the main reason most analysts are forecasting a return to dividend growth in 2018. Shore Capital estimates a DPS of 7p in 2018......"
