LONDON (Alliance News) - Barclays PLC has reached an agreement with its African subsidiary over the terms of their separation, reported the Financial Times on Wednesday.

PRESS: Barclays Agrees Separation Terms With Africa Unit - FT

The newspaper cited two people briefed on the matter, who said Barclays and the African unit are awaiting approval for the agreement from local regulators. The deal is necessary before Barclays can sell further tranches of the business, in which it currently has a holding of just over 50%.

The deal will involve a break fee paid by Barclays to end the master services agreement between the two, along with a transitional services agreement. Analysts have estimated the deal could eventually cost Barclays as much as GBP1.00 billion, according to the FT.

The FT said it is unclear whether Barclays will include the cost of the deal in its full-year results on Thursday.

Shares in Barclays were down 0.5% at 234.75 pence Wednesday afternoon.

I suppose Staley was a good find - though tomorrow will provide more insight into his tenure. He's been lucky too - focusing on a transatlantic bank with Trumps win giving that strategy a megaboost

Reducing the dividend took many investors by surprise, and Staley said the bank will get back to paying out a “significant” percentage of profits in 2018.
“We are acutely aware of our shareholders being tired at the time it’s taken to restructure Barclays,” Staley, 59, said in a meeting with reporters. “Holding the dividend back was not taken lightly; it’s because we have to end the restructuring. It’s critically important to our shareholders, it’s critically important if we are going to get our stock above book value.”

Lloyds Actual EPS = 2.9p current price 69 p : P/E = 24.7
Barc forecast EPS = 13 p using P/E = 24.7 we should be 321 p if all goes well !!

reading all the info of the last 12 months . barcs has saved 597000 in divs not one penny of this money as been used to sell off non core ,
bonuses have been paid out ,

non core reduction seems to have stopped a part from small bits costing nothing

the question is what is going to happen to the next saving of 597000 that' will be 1 billion .

do not like the trading over the last week
