I expect it has to do with the PRA announcing the additional Capital requirements needed to meet ringfencing due in 2019. Shortfall across 5 banks is between £2.2bn and £3.3bn and so probably rather lower than was anticipated (feared).

The reality is that record-high stock market valuations have been driven by "printing press".. This Ponzi-party cannot last forever, however It may continue for while,but I can hear someone shouting “last call.”

And trust me, change happens quickly once beliefs shift....
