05/8/2015 09:00 | Portside1-I have some trades with IG and they always reflect the x div date by adjusting the stops by the divi amount-so this not happened yet but will tomorrow before trading commences.I would have expected if Barc ex divi today that that they would have dropped by at least a penny-anyhow that's my sixpence worth :-) | astol

04/8/2015 22:17 | Barclays plc (LON:BARC) has confirmed its uptrend credentials with a recent spike to its best level since 2013. The move keeps BARC within its upward-trending channel confirming to us that there is little reason to doubt the trend will continue delivering to the upside. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is at 68 and therefore there is no immediate suggestion that the move looks over-extended. With Barclays trading above the 20, 50 and 100 day moving averages positioning for further gains is preferred. We would look to exit Barclays plc should BARC break below the 100 day moving average as this would represent a break in momentum to such an extent that a change in directional trend becomes a possibility. At present this level is seen at 263.71p. | triktrak

04/8/2015 16:17 | davew28-I see it more as a profit take and the fact that RSB are up after the govt sold a massive chunk today could mean a short term switch to pick up some cheap RSB shares from the major institutions. Strong sell-Never!!!!not with the profits improvements and the McFaralane effect going fwd. These will be right back to 288p+ | astol
04/8/2015 15:33 | Drop probably due to a downgrade by Vetr to a Strong Sell. Can't believe some of these Brokers. Probably advise clients to take out a short in advance of the advisory. Disgrace. Pretty sure a similar thing happened a couple of weeks ago with another broker | davew28
04/8/2015 11:59 | great buying opportunity now at these levels-I went in a little too early when down 2.5p (hindsight a great thing) but every confidence these will bounce back. After all the share price has had a tremendous run since Jenkins was axed. | astol
04/8/2015 11:16 | unless we are expecting some bad news-profit taking and maybe buying some RBS on the cheap | astol
04/8/2015 11:10 | Bit of profit taking today before next leg up (one hopes). | smurfy2001

04/8/2015 08:28 | Just bought another position on the dip today-these will bounce back hence the reason for topping up-a little tree shake ahead of the next upwards move | astol
04/8/2015 08:21 | lot of mutterings from the chairman of barcs but no clarity on when . we still no direction till we get real facts .still no rise in divs and until the div rises will stagnate .words are cheap action is positive | portside1
03/8/2015 23:12 | 300p yes, but not yet. Not sure we'll have an rate rise this week :) Nothing goes up in a straight line. | reimomo
03/8/2015 22:38 | The rally on Barc has not run out at all-until we reach 325/330p because that's where we are heading quite simply because Barc is well positioned for more improvement in its trading prospects/earnings and with McFarlane in place we are going to get newsflows or what changes he is actioning and news of the appointment of a new CEO soon. Plus interest rate increases are good for the banks as they have more flexibility to improve their margins. We could be knocking on the 300p door as early as this week- we will see. | astol
03/8/2015 22:32 | Lovely news - one banker criminal banged up for 14 years, 11 more to follow shortly. Here's a quote: During the trial, jurors were told that Hayes promised to pay a broker up to $100,000 to keep the Libor rate "as low as possible". And another: Hayes told a fellow trader: "Just give the cash desk a Mars bar and they'll set wherever you want." Hayes confessed, saying that he did not want to be extradited to the US. He claimed that the manipulation was widespread. --------------- Disgusting. How many people's lives have been ruined by these sorts of corruption? Have any of the people so appallingly affected committed suicide as a result? Let's hope not, but if so, there's an even greater level of moral decay to be accounted for. Hopefully dozens of other banker criminals will follow incarceration soon thereafter, including some CEOs who according to the BBC News on BBC1 just now "were looking the other way" whilst these criminals at the banks plied their trade. So let's get them jailed for as long as possible, but for goodness sake the system needs to draw a line under penalising the current incarnations of banks, their staff and shareholders. Don't financially penalise this group any further - remove all funds under the Proceeds Of Crime act from those criminal bankers operating up to 2012 who committed such foul offence. And give them a nice new address at any HMP of convenience. Good luck to Johnwise on your Barc long - what a refreshing change of heart, well done. Hope you see decent dividends soon and a £3 plus share price. | fjgooner |
